The Inter/Chelsea United/Bayern ties could have easily gone either way. To say that Chelsea and United couldn't at least compete with Inter and Bayern is very very harsh.

No they could compete with them in the same way that we could compete with Arsenal, Chelsea and ManU.

ManU were thoroughly outplayed by Bayern away and for 45 minutes at home. Arsenal were comprehensively outplayed by Barca home and away. Chelsea were outplayed by inter home and away.

It's not just harsh, it's completely wrong

Utd were very unlucky against Bayern

I'd say Utd and Chelsea are easily as in the top tier of European teams

Unlikely to happen from both parties' perspective, but still don't quite agree he's had a woeful season. Only seen a handful of games and extended highlights but thought he gave some extra creativity to the side, especially to break up defences late in the game. But, anyway, not happening..

I'm surprised people don't rate him. He's got some real quality. He wouldn't be a regular in the 1st team, but I think he'd be great to have in the squad. If we're in need of a goal, he's capable of coming up with a piece of magic to unlock a defence.

I wouldn't be opposed to this transfer. Only on £50k a week though, which he is unlikely to accept.

This is a spurs 5 years ago type of signing. We don't need this type of player, we have a good team capable, with a modicum of tweaking, of competing with the second tier of CL clubs (ie, all but the Barca's, RM's, Bayerns & Inters etc). Someone exceptional who would also bring leadership (like Van Bommel maybe) would be worth considering but Guti has never been exceptional, just a good player at a massive club. (A Darren Fletcheresque player - although that's a bit harsh on Fletcher who I like alot)

i agree with u here. Leadership is what we need. Also Guti is a party boy. We have enough of that here at Spurs already! And dont think we can afford him, so he would probably go to play in Qatar instead!

Not an inspiring transfer link. Like others have said, how many yearshave we been linked to him? Boring now.

Guti would be an awful signing.

He's been offered a huge salary to play in the desert and be a prima donna. Sorry, "icon".

He should end his career there, and not come to Spurs on crazy money for a 20 minutes in a few CL games.

Blowing our salary structure for a Dzeko, who will upgrade the team, be capable of playing 90 minutes twice a week, and is young enough to have a good potential resale, would be a good move.

Blowing our salary structure on a poseur whose heart in is Madrid and his retirement villa, would simply cause problems for the club.

If Guti wants to play in England, let him go to Man City, and join Vieira on the bench as a massively overpaid "impact sub" whose legs have gone.

Was thinking the same thing about Viera as you have stated.

If he can't play on a regular basis I don't see the point. Hope this isn't true and is just MadridSpur trying to get more money for Guti with another club.

Don`t totally agree with this BC...Man Utd were cruising against Bayern at OT until Rafael got his marching orders....Chelsea were unlucky to get beat at the San Siro in fairness..
