But whose option is it to extend the deal by 2 years? presumably THFC, rather than Ledley.

Options in football are always in favour of the club. I have never heard of an exception.

The club can say: no we don't want to extend by 2 years on the current terms, we want to offer you a new contract on a pay-as-you-play basis.

Yes, but...

I would expect that the option is drafted so the club can extend the current contract on the current terms - or on revised terms that are already set in the contract. It may be that the club does not want to continue to pay King the same wages, because of his limited availability. In such a situation, the option would be useless and the club would have the choice you are indicating: offer him a revised contract - and negotiate - or release him at the end of the four year period.

Noodles last two bits of info have had a lot of conjecture and opinion me thinks. A touch of boredom/itchy typing fingers.

If you put in your own judgement of people (e.g. Levy being Teflon) in your ITK it doesnt help convince people

Who: Noodles
Source: FTL
When: 13/08/09 at 2:27pm

Anyone else heard that it's Teflon's orders Ledley is no longer team Captain , due to not agreeing a new deal excessive demands ?

Don't shoot the messenger , btw Teflon has previous.

[Teflon is Daniel Levy]

When asked for clarification, and whether Ledley was being, erm, difficult with pay, Noodles replied:

must have they were at an impasse last season, Teflon thinks Spurs have stood by him and he should sign our deal maybe pay as you play ...as for his pool Levy's in Florida i dont know if he had somekeys cut for him ? that said it's in Teflon's interest to aid his recovery ?

[to explain re Levy's pool - Noodles has previously told us that Ledley has been using it, as swimming is the only training Ledley can do]

Can I just say, given the money Ledders has been on for some time, why doesn't he pay for his own fucking swimming pool, especially if it's the only training he can do? someone should tell him that's tax-write off as it'd be a direct work-related expense!!!!!!!!

What is all this cant train bullshite? When he got called up to the England squad and all this crap hit the media, It read along the lines that King had left the England camp as he does not train during the week: this was accompanied by a picture of King in his spurs training kit running about with the caption King Returns to Spurs Training!!! The picture didn't lie chaps, he trains alright, just cant play twice in a week.

he doesnt train. he jogs around a bit. doesnt kick a ball.

as for levy giving king his own keys, that involves a lot of trust (or it would if I was in levy's position) so i wouldnt imagine them having a massive fall out and king leaving.

Mods, again, not ITK - Interesting, but I (And I think I speak for a lot of us) only look for "transfer ITK" in this thread - I would expect to see this in Spurs Chat or something.

Well since I have, and as it is apparently "acceptable ITK" in this forum (sorry for questioning it, oh yer, like a girl :shake:) Then I will ask the question, does anyone know what the deal was, like what was offered, what he is on, what he wants etc? or maybe I should be asking the question in the Players Talk, so hard to know....... should I set up a Thread for ledders to discuss this, or is it okay to reply to this here as it is ITK??

MY dear old nan (god rest her soul) was just like you. We used to take her out for sunday lunch and she'd sit there and grumble about her food. Twenty minutes later she'd scoffed the lot.

Difference between you and her ? I liked her.

why ever not? 30 games for him is 30 gaems. Who esle can you get that plays at kings level for 30 games? no one. Rio showed again last night why he's not as good as Ledley so what's the sense in fucking off our best player?

Levy's not silly and neither is Harry, King will wear the arm band when he plays and he'll be at spurs till he retires.

Rio Ferdinad is a better Cb than Ledley King. I love King and he is one of the silkiest football playing Cb's I've seen but let's keep it in perspective. Ferdinand is a better defender and has leadership qualities that king doesn't have.

It's 30 games max. We will be incredibly lucky if we get 30 games out of him. His existing problem means he is at a much higher risk of related injuries.

I think Levy's got a point. We've paid this fella's wages for virtually two years without a game, not to mention all his previous injury problems.

No top club would touch a player in his condition.

I've submitted dlnds info to the SCITK forum, so if the mods think it good once source details are received, it'll get posted and will be trustworthy.

Rio Ferdinand better? No F***ing way. Rio loses concentration, makes back passes through his own keepers legs to score own goals, gives away more fouls and has nothing like Kings ability to bring the ball out of defence. Rio is to King what Bentley is to Beckham, an overrated imitation who is just not as good.

I really think i am in perspective on it. seriously i can't think why anyone would think Rio is better. Rio is a fine Cb one of the best in the world but when equally fit King is just better. Watch Rio play Drogba then watch King against him. Same with Torres and back in the day against Henry and then in internationals against THE ronaldo.

Henry even had the chance to name Rio as the best but chose King.

Rio is gobby but not a better captian or leader either. Take last night for example, captains and leader don't make passes like that and even worse they don't then watch for a few seconds before jogging in to rectify it. There are better captains than King, past and present but Rio isn't one of them.

You are both seeing this through spurs eyes. You think King doesn't make mistakes ?

For what it's worth I don't think is much in it and if King had been playing regularly for the last few years who knows. King on his day is one of the best footballing CB's I've seen but he isn't infalable and he isn't a better CB than Ferdinand.

He is, however, a fucket load better than Terry and Carragher.

He is the best centre back in world football. Fit or not, he is still the best. He doesnt train yet come matchday no one can touch him. I bet if you gave Fergie the choice of a fit King or Ferdinand he would choose King everyday. He oozes class and doesnt ever look flustered which is a sign of a great centre back. The guy is a one off, such a shame he has had these injuries.

If he was fit and city came in for him now, he would cost minimum £60 million.

and if you don't believe me look through the Sun Archive

He only 'trains' the day before a match day. This is so he can be with the squad and talk tactics. He does no intense training. So once a week he is out there with the others, but not doing a full on session.
