Villa quoted us 26 million for Young, we comprehensively told them to sod off. Not happening unless Villa have a SERIOUS change of heart on the price or Young hands in a transfer request (which isn't completely off the cards, but seems very doubtful). I don't want it to happen anyway, I'm happy with what we've got and he's worth nowhere near that money. 'Arry seems to feel the same.

I read on my toilet paper (todays issue of the daily mail) that we may be ready to steal from the rich and give to the poor and steal Our Japanese money from Real Get-rid. Despite it coming from the Mail, they could actually be right with this one! This is still a possibility if nobody else comes in for him, Real may be forced to sell come the end of the window, but at the moment it seems as though they are happy to keep him as backup and he is all too happy to stay. Hopefully Robben will realise that he needs a place to shine and asks to leave, in which case we could well be front runners.

We're trying to tie our lads to new contracts or get rid at the moment. We've got a lot on long term contracts, looks like we may see our man on the throne get a new contract... I hope so. We will get a good indication of when he will retire and it is NOT yet, he will probably take on a coaching role at the club once he is done (this is just my guys opinion, seems to be a general feel at the club though )

Sissoko I haven't heard any more on, though what Yidio said last night is similar to what I was told a few days ago - except that Yidio is one step ahead and has said we will NOT pay that money for him, I was told that it was too much and we were still negotiating and so could still happen. Fair play to Yidio, he's been spot on and I trust him with that one

Sorry I was so enigmatic with this post, still over-enthused with the Mighty Spurs last night!

So ladies and gents, give a great roar of....

COME ON YOU SPURSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

PS: Oh, it looks like the Prince will be on the bench against West Ham if Jenas isn't fit

Thanks Rebarb, interesting to hear that Robben is still an option. Next week or so could be interesting in relation to the RM situation as I think they still need to shift a few players.

Cheers Rebrab.
Would love young, but not at that price. And given we could get Robben for around half of that (i'm guessing), but for significantly less than young then Robben makes more sense.

Nice Update rebrab.

TBH, although i would'nt say no to cover for Wilson, i'd be more than happy if we did'nt sign anyone else during this transfer window.

As for the Prince being on the bench against the spammer. If it's true that he's been working hard and impressing in training, then why not reward him with a place on the bench and save a bit of cash in the process. We've seen in the turnaround with Benny of what can happen to a young player who has had a bad first season at the club.

Always look forward to your updates Rebrab, cheers.

If Villa did quote that kind of money they deserved to be told to feck off and I sincerely hope the club forget about Young now. £26m is far far too much for a player who is overrated, IMO. Also glad we are standing firm on Sissoko.

As for Robben, or any of his Dutch teammates, our first two matches may well go some way towards pursuading him that we really mean business this year and are not a "second rate club". Could really work in our favour, although I would still be very concerned about his impack in the dressing room.

All in all, I'm well pleased with the squad at the moment and we have, IMO, great back up options for almost all key positions. And the press and pundits just can't talk enough about our "strength in depth" at the moment!!

Life is good at the moment!

Thanks Rebrab.

Villa are just doing with Young as we did with Berbascum to be fair. Time to move on from that one and either concentrate money & resources on the french lad or stick with what we have until January IMO.

Thanks mate, there seems to be a lot of postive whispers coming out of the Club about KPB, looks like he's got his head down, certainly good backup if that's the case.

I like the the players we are being linked with on the left wing but cant help feeling we are going to get shafted with whatever option we can get. Young is far to pricey and unless that changes is not worth splashing the cash for imo. With Petrov and Robben, yes they are good players and worth a punt but do come with their injury problems. Even if we spent say £5m on petrov or between £5m-£10m on Robben its still a waste of money in my eyes if they get injured again and spend alot of the season on the treatment table.

Thanks Rebrab, always nice to read ITK especially when it comes from SC ITK. Always seems to be a bit of depth to whats posted and has a nice mix of opinion to, thankyou.

Cheers rebrab, it's refreshing to read your posts, as you don't say the usual bollocks of "don't shoot the messenger" etc. You say it as it is.

Thankyou for the info. I too agree these prices quoted are too high and are not necerssary purchases. But if Harry and the board deemed them to be, I would trust there judgement too.

It's actually because I wanked over one of Rob's Spurs ties.

Spurs cum on your tie.

But he changed it as he thought that name would be a bit shit.

My guess is that Harry will move upstairs when he retires from management. He has a great eye for talent, and his dealings since he arrived have been pretty much spot on. All square pegs for square holes.

I'm not surprised Villa have asked for so much for Young. I cant say i blame them. We would do the same for Lennon i'm sure. Robben i think will stay at Madrid and prove himself. I'd love him here but it just wont happen. He, Kaka and Ronaldo with Benzema the front man this season is my guess. Alonso and Diarra holding in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Sissoko just sounds too expensive for someone so young and unproven in a big league.

Yes, but what would the wage difference over say a four year contract?

£4 million plus, if Robben gets only £20,000 per week more than Young, and no way would they get the same money.
