I've held back for ages, but something has really lit a fire under my arse.

First things first, I can confirm Adebayor is done. £85k a week from us, the rest from Citeh. Announcement expected by close of play tomorrow.

Now for the long bit:

LUKA MODRIC - no he isn't leaving. Sick of seeing this now. Recent press quotes are ALL Harry. DL is very, very angry. The stance is exactly the same, and Harry has been told time and time again to keep his mouth shut. He just can't help but run his mouth off to the press, and this is becoming more and more of an issue at the club. He's trying to stay in Modric's good books, act like the 'father figure' and keep his reputation of being the arm around the shoulder of every player intact. He knows £40m won't buy '4 top players'. If it could then we would have bought them by now. His bosses (yes that's right Harry, you have bosses) don't agree that Modric is a 'top lad' who has done everything right since requesting a move. Instead he is just another Berbatov, who will do everything he can to get his move. Unlikely that he'll refuse to play, but will do pretty much everything else up to that point. But I repeat, the stance is the same - as it stands, no matter what money & players we are offered, the answer is a big fat NO. Expect Modric to properly throw his toys out of the pram now; don't expect this mythical statement indicating content that others have suggested.

It's no longer about keeping Modric, it's about principle. This club has its owners, and they want to prove that no player and certainly no manager are bigger than the club. If we sell Modric, even for great money and p/ex for top players, expect Bale to be next, then Rafa etc.

This ongoing rift might be sorted out anyway. Harry's got a good chance of going to prison, not so much because it's the normal process, but more because the powers that be want to make an example out of someone. He's guilty, everyone knows it, it's just down to whether the courts and the FA etc want to make Harry that example or not.

-As POTL says, Kranjcar staying.
-Diarra is possible. Would be surprised if it happened, but it's definitely possible.
-Crouch is wanted up north, Levy more than happy to sell. Harry less keen, Crouch even less keen. Someone has to go though.
-Rossi was always a non-starter (see my first update of the window). Nothing has changed there.
