He should be playing in Italian footie, Serie A.

He can keep the ball and inject speed when it is needed.

He has the athleticism and technique to be a world class player - even has pretty good tactical nouse. His attitude is presumably OK and apparently he's a team player with good attitude.

His glaring shortcomings are he lacks the unshakable confidence top players have & doesn't seem to have that obsessive drive to win at whatever cost. You only notice Jenas' weaknesses so much because the other parts of his game are so bloody strong.
Technically and athletically he's not far short of the likes of Gerrard or Lampard - in terms of drive, conviction and heart - Jenas is, unfortunately, a million miles short!

World class? Are you fucking insane. Jesus...

He'd do well in Italy, or anywhere with a lower tempo, giving him more touches on the ball, more time to work out what the hell to do with it, more time to make up for his mistakes, and somewhere that his very sporadic runs forward will look good because the other players will be slower and sitting deep.

Will be delighted to see him go. He has gone from someone I hoped would come good, to someone I wish never made the bench.

Not at all - was a case in point really. Jenas struggles to self-motivate, hold focus and perform to the best of his ability on a regular basis.

The way I see it Jenas is like a bad championship manager buy - the player who has all the stats. Great numbers accross the board in all departments. Has it all except under personality type, it says 'tempermantal' or 'unambitious' rather than 'driven' or 'model pro'. While the 'driven' player averages 8 per game and chip in with double figures from midfield. Jenas with similar stats but crucially his 'tempermental' personality type - flatters to deceive. Occasional flashes of brilliance and a good game here and there, but far too often simply doesn't seem at the races.

I reserved judgement on Jenas for a good few years - until quite recently in fact. So much promise & potential & there are plenty of players who didn't click mentally until quite late - Zidane for came and went a while back - shame.

Unfortunately I think the time for Jenas' mid-career coming of age came and went a while back - shame.

Jenas will never step up his game on a consistent basis to be a first choice player in a Champions league team. As Teofilo-Stevenson said he has the attributes but lacks the desire and thsi will be his downfall. Its a shame really. I've only ever heard of him "having the potential to be world class!" but have only seen it in rare glimpses in the odd game here and there. I've never really liked him as a Spurs player but can see his defensive attributes in that he will chase the ball down and break up play, not quite like Wilson does but still does anyhoo.
Whatever happens I hope he goes on to progress his career, as football is a very short career indeed, look at Kieron Dyer, over 30 and was set to be the "nuts", so injury prone its unreal. Hardly played in comparrison to the likes of Scholes or Butt or even Zola. Anyway.................coys!!!

From Wiki....

"Jermaine is famously nicknamed "da Jenius"[citation needed] for his creative box-to-box play and quick distribution from the middle of the pitch"

...I never knew that, or heard it many years ago and forced it from my memory. Love the "citation needed".

Someone add the line, "Jermaine is also renowned for editing his own Wiki to make him sound cooler, and for making up nicknames for himself like "Dhalsim" when in fact all of his team mates call him ****y McChuckletits"

My personal view is just give him away and we could save on the wages but seriously he can do the odd good game and if Harry can get him to a consistant level then he may still have a future at the club. We've changed a few managers and they all seem to keep him so he must show something in training, just not getting it on the pitch
