Tottenham Hotspur fans have been sweating over the fitness of Rodrigo Bentancur in recent days. The Spurs midfielder had to come off after just 34 minutes in Uruguay’s World Cup meeting with Ghana last week. Bentancur only just made it past a third of the crucial game against the Black Stars when he pulled up in pain.

Uruguayan outlet Futbol UY has provided an update on Bentancur’s injury and when he’s expected to be back for Spurs. They claim that the Tottenham star has a five-millimeter tear in the adductor muscle of his right leg. Bentancur is already back in London and working on his recovery, added the outlet.

In terms of when he’s expected to return to action for Spurs, they speculate that he ‘could return on January 1 against Aston Villa at home’. This is due to Bentancur’s suspension after accruing his fifth yellow card of the season against Leeds on 12 November.

The Boot Room turn that into...Fairly good news in terms of Bentancur’s availability. He is expected to be back at the first available opportunity (the Villa game).

Here's hoping he's ready to go Jan 1st. Need to get a good run going from the off once restart arrives.
