Robben has never played in the North London derby ? (Spurs / Chelsea were also pretty tasty too though) I'd assume he was talking about VP.

The Sun's version says London derbies and Robben, not the north London derby and van Persie. I expect what happened was Rafael actually said something like this, "Robben/Robin has told me all about the derbies and they are the best in the world". The journalists have then padded them out to make a bit more sense. Problem is they've assumed who he means, and gone different ways. I think going with van Persie makes the most sense in terms of the article, but Arjen Robben makes more sense as van Persie was injured for Holland in the week, and Robben has been vocal on the move already.

Kiss of death.

He'll miss an open goal against the goons in a standard 3-0 defeat at the emirates now

I think it is definitely a unique derby because of the history.

Oh, and shut up Kendall.

It's a real bad time for Defoe to get injuired because his movement and confidence looked great for England and I was hoping he would continue to thrive with a creative linking striker sitting in the hole behind him.

I think VDV could have done for Defoe what Rooney did for him in the ENgland games (really allow him to shine)

Still, if he is out six weeks now he will need to recapture his form and match fitness which is a huge shame because it really looked like he was in great form on international duty and I would have loved to see him reproducing it against the Baggies and the Germans.

Just off at a slight tangent, clearly VDV needs a song and I'd personally like to recommend the WHL faithful using the chorus from this song, "Caravan of Love" by The Housemartins

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z5guJjKW_4&feature=fvst

The lyrics could be changed to:

"Coming from the Netherlands
we've got Rafa Van Der Vaart
Stand up, stand up"

I thank you

VAN DER VAART
VAN DER VAART

On topic, although VDV is quite a player, I can't see us overtaking the Goons yet. We've had numerous years of them driving a Porsche, and us being in a milk float. So the gap's pretty big. And there's no turbo button on our dashboard. But I hear we're trading up to a Ferrari. Hopefully they'll break down soon and Wenger will leave. Then, and only then, we have a real chance to catch and pass them.

If they're in a Porsche and we're in a Fezza, we'll be the ones breaking down.

I would vote he means VP. Wouldn't he call his mate Robben Arjen or Argie or Arg or whatever they call each other.

Sports Journalists, lazy buggers. This proves that at least one of them badly misquoted him, by altering what he said to make sense in the context of their (mis)interpretation. Isn't that illegal?

Disagree archiewasking. They've got problems with debt, can't spend too big in the transfer market, and still paying off the ground. Now's the time to catch them. If we don't overturn them now, then they'll finish paying their mortgage and we will see them disappear over the horizon for another few years.

Badly misquoted? The differences are very small. I expect both have slightly altered his actual words, which is usual practice, depending on their assumption of the name.

I think we are a better team than Arsenal already and we will finish ahead of them in the league this season.
We will also blast them out of the Carling Cup.

We're a better team than Arse-anal already and with their goalkeeping problems, time needed for their none Premier league new players to gel, injuries, lack of spending power and no English backbone we'll definitely do better than them come the end of season.
