How exactly do you portray wanting to move to another team or city with just your body language?

That's quite a feat, I think most professional mimes would struggle with that.

See, the beauty of a fans forum, is that is filled with peoples opinions. You seem to struggle massively with someone disagreeing with yours.

The lack of contract being signed, the countless moans and groans from his agent, and many other leaks and stories suggest to the most blind of people that he is waiting to jump ship.....wise up Jolly!

Vertonghen has stepped it up lately and his attitude seems better, Sherwood (not just his latest comments) comes across as a bitter prick to be honest because even if he has a point somewhere, he's talking shit on national TV. Who's going to give him a job in management after the way he talks about his former club and chairman? It's enough to make anyone think twice before hiring him. I'm not even a "Sherwood hater" but he doesn't seem to realise he's shooting himself in the foot.

You should see me in real life, I'm the worst.

It's not that I struggle with disagreements, more the fact that I despair at people who form opinions without a strong body of evidential analysis displayed from the outset.

I couldn't give a shit what his agent is intimating at or what the press are making up about him, I actually quite like this Spurs side in terms of individuals/personalities and I'm going to keep plugging away at the naysayers.

I think people are interpreting it to fit their own agenda.

I'm not sure. I think Sherwood seems to have a chip on his shoulder about Vert. I'm sure it will be revealed soon because he won't be able to help himself.

But I'm not a naysayer, I feel I'm a realist and I think it's a fair analysis to say that Verts has been a shadow of the player he first was for us. He came to us thinking we were a team that was about to embark on regular Champs League football and that never materialised....and I think he's sulking now.

I don't have to praise every single Spurs players because I'm a Spurs fan.....I'll always support them and if Verts scored I'll sing his name....but that doesn't mean I have to chat shit and say how great he is and this and that!

I could cry at the thought of how good we were just a few seasons ago, and how we have pissed all that money into the wind (yes, I know we didn't have a massive Net spend.....but we wasted that money on average).

We have one world class player now - Lloris. We have some potential (Bentaleb, Dier, Kane - I hesitate to put Lamela in there as I think the jury is still on him imo), and players like Chadli have definitely improved - but are we close to top 4 with this squad.....Na!

I agree that there is no need to praise every single Spurs player, that doesn't have to the only direct reflection of a positive outlook.

I just think that it's still mega early to write this management regime and (some) selection of players off - with Vertonghen high up on my list of players that could really thrive under an improved direction in terms of tactical outset and improved pressing game. We'll see.

I'm a big fan of Poch, I'm not writing him off at all, this is a thread about Verts! I said somewhere else today that I think we're a team in limbo, in between two systems. January window is huge for Spurs!

Vertonghons ball playing skills mask the fact that he is not the best defender

62 caps for arguably the most exciting and upcoming international side in European football bar the World Champs?

Nah, let's get Caulker back.

How many of them caps were as a CB? Every time I seen him play for them it's been as a attacking left back

That's very true, the Belgian system is set up to create a lot of ball playing CBs that can fill in a number of roles. I don't think there's a quick-fire way of finding it out but I'd guess he's played more at LB than CB.

I personally think he's best at CB.

Hopefully Vertonghen and Fazio continue to start together. We need continuity in defence to allow them to grow and hopefully it'll lead to stability. I've seen people hail Vertonghen as world class and others saying he isn't good enough, I sit in the middle. I think he's been rather inconsistent the last year or so. He was excellent vs Everton and that's the level we should be expecting of him, hopefully gets back to that over next few weeks.

Are you sure?
Manchester city 6-0, 5-1, 4-1
Chelsea 4-0 and 3-0
Liverpool 5-0 4-0 & 3-0
Can't keep clean sheets against crap like Newcastle, Stoke' Hull, WBA, and Sunderland (or hardly anyone for that matter)

Hardly a defence to write home about is it?

I think we should just stop expecting more, they're simply not capable of going 90 minutes without making at least one cock up.

Hugo has a great attitude and body language....Verts is waiting for his next move and I think that has shown is his performances this season. He isn't the same player anymore.

Not another body language expert, I wish I had that skill

So that's where you get the diploma for body reading, and here I was thinking it was a skill. Its bollocks.

Funnily enough it formed a huge part of my degree, and does in my day to day job but anyway, off track. The man like I've said before in this thread is a shadow of his old self when he first arrived at the Lane, and I think that's because he wants out.

If you think he is a great defender, I think you're wrong. I think our lack of clean sheets and countless errors are because we don't have any great defenders. My opinion of course, but then the lack of clean sheets etcseem to back that point up.

Me too, can be given a runaround by quick wingers at left back

He is the best CB at the club and one of the best in the Prem, world class he is not and to be honest I have not heard anyone say he is. As for us not having cleans sheets that is down to a lot of things but this is a player who made the Prem team of the year in his first season, who was voted in the team of best players at the world cup.

I can understand those who do not rate him ( but disagree with that opinion) but all this BS about his body language being wrong and shows he does not want to be here is bollocks. He was captain at Ajax and led his country on occasions and all I hear from some fans ( not saying you) is that because he lent up against the wall in the tunnel before the L'pool game he does not care, as I say its bollocks.

I'm pretty sure that reading body language is not the same as mind reading, unless we have a few Jedis in our ranks?
