Actually a lot easier to understand in that one, I was specifically thinking of the post match interview at Emirates last season. Maybe it's just me, I dunno.

Afraid it's just you.

Also regarding the "English premium" - he counts as a homegrown player and as such his cost would be a bit higher.

Chelsea close in Victor Moses

Chelsea are within touching distance of the signing of Victor Moses from Wigan, with the Blues looking to tie up a deal in time for this Sunday's Community Shield clash with Manchester City.

ESPN can disclose that Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay contacted Wigan chairman Dave Whelan on Monday to try to thrash out an agreement, though the Latics rejected the latest offer for their prized asset.

However, it still appears likely that Moses, 21, will end up at Stamford Bridge as the Champions League winners are thought to be ready to pay Whelan's asking price of £8.5 million after much negotiation.

The two clubs are not far apart in their current valuations and the former England Under-21 international, who now plays for Nigeria at senior level, wants to move to West London.

While losing Moses would be a major blow for Wigan, Whelan says he won't stand in the player's way providing the £8.5 million fee - down from an initial £10 million price tag - is met.

"I have spoken to Chelsea's chief executive and they are easy to deal with, we have told them the price and they will come back and agree it or not," Whelan told ESPN.

"We would much prefer the player to sign a new contract and stay but he wants to go to Chelsea and its a good club so we cannot stand in his way."

Chelsea are also weighing up whether to make an offer for Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle, as Roberto Di Matteo looks to bolster his attacking options following the departures of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou this summer.

Schurrle would cost in the region of £25 million and provides a more realistic alternative to Porto striker Hulk, whose hefty price tag of close to €60 million remains an obstacle to any potential move to Stamford Bridge.

2 or 3 potentially class players are going to be destroyed over the next couple of yrs. Just at the age where they should be playing regularly and learning at a rate which they'll never be able to again, they'll be picking their navels on the bench. Possibly.

Even worse, they'll be stuck in a dressing room with JT, Fat Frank and Cashley.

hmmm moses is a young power house , he can learn to slow things down ,
but i think he,ll do very well with a better team , and at £10 million a real bargain, took arsenal apart last season, same as with hoilett, great quality in lesser teams and under £10 million, u cant ask for more
many of our supporters have questioned these players as they did ashley young, and erm he went to villa for £10 and has grown and grown....

Yes. I wouldn't discount Moses from that group myself but must admit he wasn't among those players I was thinking of when typing that post.

Wigan Athletic have announced that they have accepted a bid from Chelsea for Victor Moses.

Chelsea have pursued Nigeria international Moses, 21, throughout the summer but the two clubs had been unable to agree a fee.
On Thursday night, though, Wigan confirmed that they have finally come to an agreement over his sale.

A Wigan statement read: "The club can confirm that after four unsuccessful bids from Chelsea for Victor Moses, a fifth bid has today finally met the valuation and terms set by Wigan Athletic and been accepted. The player has been given permission to speak with Chelsea."

Moses, who joined Wigan from Crystal Palace in the January 2010 transfer window, has entered the final year of his contract with the Latics but his club had been adamant that they would not sell at a price that did not suit them.

Earlier on Thursday, manager Roberto Martinez had warned that if Chelsea did not pay Wigan's asking price, believed to be in the region of £9 million, Moses would remain at the DW Stadium.

"You will get all sorts of speculation and talk, but the reality is, every player has a valuation," Martinez had said. "If a club matches that valuation then maybe you have to sit down with the player and there is a decision to be made.

"Here, for all the talk and speculation, we have never had an offer which matches what the club wants - so at that point, all the rest is cheap talk. Victor is an incredible young man and I think the maturity he showed on Sunday is not normal in a 21-year-old. It has been a real joy to see him grow over the last few seasons.

"We made a massive investment in him as a young man and we are very proud of him. If there is nothing to consider, it is not an issue.''
