Sad to see. Probably a striker away from being a decent side.
Depth charges have sunk the yellow submarine.

To be fair, Villarreal were like the Wigan of the Spanish League in that they rose from the lower leagues and put up more than a good show, it was as recent as 1990 that they were in the 4th tier of Spanish football. The way they over extended and suceeded was like a fairy tale but once they missed out on UCL football is was going to be a downward spiral all the way. Same thing happened to Deportivo La Coruna

This is why there is such a huge movement from most other Spanish sides that the Liga TV rights should be negotiated collectively and divvied up more equally. Unfortunately, Real and Barca give Valencia, Atletico enough of the pie to keep them onside although with Valencia's financial woes it remains to be seen how long they will be happy with the money they are getting.

Diego Lopez would be an immense signing, I've seen him a lot, he truly is a combo of Gomes's great saves and Friedel's consistency. He's also tall and physical, deals well with crosses, he would be great for the Premier League. There's no way Villarreal can drag him down to the Segunda, so he will go. I really really hope we sign him, shouldn't be more than 8M.

Sevilla have signed him.

I know, it was a joke because someone put he finished 4th with Villarreal then moved to Malaga and finished 4th:)

Although we should be aiming for top three next year anyway...
