If he goes we don't necessarily need another number 9 to replace him. We need something similar to what Liverpool have, a wide forward.

Half our squad took time to settle so I don't buy the 'hit the ground running' rubbish.

Look at the average age of the squad...they didn't take time to "settle"..they took time to develop...now we have reached the next stage where we integrate developed players with established ones and have a mixture of youth and experience that will win us the Premiership and truly compete in the CPL. We cannot 'stand still' or give someone 'one more season'...do that and it's a recipe for disaster. Janssen was brought in as a backup for Harry Kane...sadly...for whatever reasons he hasn't filled the role.
There are currently rumours that W.B.A. want to sign him...if that does happen then that surely speaks volumes for Poch's opinion of the situation ???.

No,we would need another no9,failure to get one would be just plain stupid. Who is going to want to come and sit on the bench for most of the season, doubtful anyone any good

Can't get rid unless we have a replacement tied up. Our squad is very very short without getting rid of our only proper reserve striker - son is an option but not a proper reserve striker imo
I'm not going to argue that we should get rid of him or keep him, I believe the club is ambiguous too but someone asked me a question which I found difficult to answer so I'll ask you.
What game last season would we have missed him in if we hadn't had him?

Swansea game where he put Son in on goal with a lovely back heel to bring us 2-1 up.

I'm desperate to know who people want instead. A striker seemingly happy to play back up, that isn't a one season wonder or exotic name with 20 in the dutch league. Half our squad took time to settle so I don't buy the 'hit the ground running' rubbish.
This is exactly a central point. Earlier this summer we read about Pochettino describing how it is difficult to get new prospects to take on the challenge of braking into our strong team, players literally worry about signing for Spurs.

Back up forwards who we can afford, who'd want to come, who are proven internationally don't grow on trees. Fans think they have the name of some obscure, left-of-field signing who nobody has thought of and who is a realistic target, well, we signed one such player – Janssen. And look where we are with him a year later.

We can't just reset the circle this summer just because Janssen didn't score enough goals to be approved by "@SpursFanMyArse" or "@StinkiestSpursFanEver". Janssen is right now just about as good of a young, back up forward as we can expect, and the prudent thing to do with be to sit tight and give him another season, not look at every single opportunity to talk him down and boot him out.

And that's it is it ??....£19m spent on a back heel.....bargain !

All I did was answer a question, I wasn't even arguing his value, I don't think he's performed admirably for his price tag and our expectations / necessities. Worcester asked a question about what game we would've missed him in, and I answered that we would've missed his hold up play and lay off skills in that particular game as it led to an injury time go-ahead goal. That's it. Get off my back.

The point I was making is that you could only give one example...it was not a criticism of your posting but of the fact only one scenario could be mentioned. My sincerest apologies if it appeared as a personal jibe...not my intention.

I appreciate the answer too as I genuinely couldn't think of an answer, I am really strung out over this, I so want him to come good and if we keep him this year in the hope that he comes good I'm cool with that but equally if we let him go I'll accept that with regret but without too much concern.

Fuck me, the guy has played 3 minutes of his second season. Honestly, give the guy a break. I'm not even sure why some are posting in the thread when he's literally had no time at all to show if he will breakthrough this season or not. Unless you're judging him on 3 minutes.......

Really? Liverpool seem to be absolutely fine for scoring goals without one. I'd rather sign a top class WF who can operate centrally (Martial) than replace Janssen with an out and out number 9. In fact I simply don't see the point in it.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich all operate with either one central striker on a number of attackers who can move freely across the frontline. Part of the reason Kane is so damn good is because he gets involved with play all across the attacking line, whereas Janssen is predominantly a box player - and that doesn't play to our strengths.

As is stated before, there are rumours that W.B.A. want him in a double deal with Wimmer. Should this not happen then we know that Poch still sees potential in the guy and I am more than willing to abide by his decision....

I just want to clarify that I do want him to stay and improve. But should it be possible that we can improve our attacking options and he'd have to be the makeweight then I think we'd be silly to say no.

I'd be sad to see him go, it's been difficult for him to get game time because in reality he's never going to displace Harry and when our system only involves playing 1 striker his opportunities to have a decent run in the team have been limited.

It'd be a huge risk to let him go without having another striker tied up, as we'd be left with one, which is absurd.

If he goes, we almost certainly bring in a WF than can play CF too
