Good evening to all of you,

This has been a very long time I havent posted on the

site but i feel this is now time to make so.

As many of you, I have already watched a lot of Euro

2008 in Swizerland and Austria .

And i try to watch the games with my eyes of a spurs

fan (rather as a french supporter , even if i wish France

to go far in the competition).

I 'd like to speak about our New Spurs Team for Next

year.

I read that Juande Ramos has about £40 M to enjoy with

the Summer.( may someone ITK confirm this figure).

£17 M have been spent for Luka Modric and about £9M

for Giovani Dos Santos. So £26 M have already been

spent.

So £14 M are yet to spend for New Players .

And we can add a few milions more to spend amongst all

the

of our players that might leave the Club

( Stalteri , Tainio, KPB, Lee Young Pyo, Gardner,

Chimbonda, Kaboul, Taarabt,Huddlestone, Lennon)

we probably wanna get some more millions

to buy a good Goalkeeper.

I know we have been linked with loads of goalkeepers so

far

( Coupet, Boruc, Amélia, Mc Gregor, Hart, Gomes,etc....)

but I have particularely been impressed by the turkish

Goalkeeper Demirel VOLKAN.

I already rated him as a great goalkeeper before but on

wednesday night vs Swizerland, he really proved what

a real great goalkeeper he was with several great saves.

He has all what we can ask to a modern goalkeeper and

that our last goalies missed.

* He is young and strong ( not fat).
( born 27.10.1981)
( 191 cm ( 6 ft 3 in)
( 92 kgs ( 202 lbs)

* He very well commands his defense.
* He isn't stuck on his line and moves very well in and outside the penalty box.

* He is strong in the air.

* He has already played many big matches with both Fenerbahce and Turkey.

* He is not afraid to physically involves himself in the game in the good way ( to defend a team mate or to go out in the forwards' legs).

* He probably could cope very well with pressure
( as he played in the best turkish club and the national turkish selection).
I don't need to say much about atmosphere in Turkey and during matches between Istambul clubs)

* He took RUSTU Recber 's place in Turkey's team.

I think there is enough reasons for spurs male fans to bring him to the Lane.

And i am sure that even female spurs fans would enjoy him to come at the Lane because he looks very nice looking to be fair (i am not gay but this is the truth)

Here is the link to his personal website.

www.volkandemirel1.com/

That leads me to say that to my eyes , he is a much

more better safe and reliable option than all the other

goalkeepers that we have been linked so far this season.

If i was in charge of transfers, i would hesitate before spending €12 M ( £8M) at least to bring him to WHL.

We are all aware that we need to bring a good goalie in this summer.

What are your thoughts about him ????
Would you like him at the Lane ????

I also get another small question.

Do some of you know if our Management ( Daniel Levy, Juande Ramos, Damien Comolli ) are in Swizerland and Austria trying to bring new players to the Lane ?????

Thanks for reading and for your opinions.

Have a good night and good Week End

Alex

Robbo's temporary state is lasting much too long though. Not entirely down to him as defence have been shit but we need a more commanding keeper for me.

On the topic, I don't know much about Demirel as he wasn't great in the first game but I think Stipe Pletikosa has done well for me so far. People mention Artur Buroc too. Coupet is having a horrible game tonight....and how did Robben get that shot in from that angle?! Came on from 60+ mins, and made 1 and score 1. My dream left winger for Spurs was and still is Robben but no chance there for us sadly.

You're kidding. He's a calamity GK with slippery hands. Definately not safe and there are much solid options than him.

If you don't belive me watch the Sevilla-Fenerbahce in the CL of this past season. He was completely responsible for 2 goals and yet he saved some crucial penalties in the shootout. Calamity like Ricardo, Barthez and Robinson

Are you judging him on a couple of performances in the Euros? Sorry, that's ridiculous.

As you're based in France, do you think he's better than Coupet, Lloris, Mandanda and Pele, with all of whom we've been linked? Or Bracigliano (with whom we haven't been linked, but it's surely only a matter of time)?

On his performance today, Romania's keeper looked pretty damned good.

Going off at a tangent, from performances so far the one Turkish player who could really fill in a hole at Spurs is Turan. The guys at my barbers (all rabid Galatasaray fans) reckon he's the mutt's nuts, but wouldn't mind if he came to Spurs. What do you reckon to him, Hakano?

Well he is one of the rising stars in Turkey and played well against Switzerland. I don't think we need players of that mould unless we lose Lennon TBH. Also bear in mind Tuncay was an absolute star in Turkey but I would say at best he's been average for boro. Turks don't tend to do great in the premiership and are not the cheapest - possibly the main reason why so few have come to England to ply their trade.

I am surprised we haven't been linked with Stipe Pleticosa.
He's outstanding goalkeeper. I watch Russian football closely and didn't see him playing a bad game for Spartak Moscow, though I support Zenit St.Petersburg. ( Spurs- Ar5ena1 rivalry alike) Can't remember a bad game for Croatia either.
But can remember huge number of great saves and decisive actions in the last two years. Always calm under pressure. He's big - 6f 4in, comfortable with crosses.
In my opinion decent offer for him will be enough for Spartak letting him go to EPL like they did with Vidic.
Moreover our own Luka Modric could be a factor. I am sure Pleti would solve our goalkeeping problems.

Actually, Spurs were linked with him, Pleticosa, for several transfer windows before he joined Spartak; and since then silence.
Good call, as he look like a reliable quality goalie.
What about Igor Akinfeev: you rate Pleticosa as a better goalie?

1. Was very good in 2005. Largely responsible for CSKA Moscow winning UEFA Cup. Then big injury - missed the whole season. Then gained weight, struggled for form and bad attitude. Future in Russia unclear.

2. Very confident young goalie. Sharp and agile, quick reactions, can be top keeper. Shay Given type, not very big.

3. Not good enough imo. Painfully reminds me of Jenas. Lots of attributes, nearly there but the key ingredient missing - maybe controlled aggression.

At the moment yes. Mainly because of experience. IA is only 22, for keeper its a learning curve still.
Pleticosa is a finished article in terms of goalkeeping education. And personaly I prefer bigger goalies. IA is 185 cm tall - not enough to compete with Crouches, Kollers, Tonis of this world:wink:

The sheer amount of mistakes i've seen Volkan make is ridiculous. Flying about the place flapping at things.

I wouldn't want him anywhere near our goal.

Cheers, take your word for it.
Wasn't Akinfeev also out injured parts of last season?
