Did you ever have a burger from a 'Happy Eater' roadside cafe? It was basically a giant thin slab of meat flavoured gristle in a soggy bun that was half the size of the burger itself. You needed to use about 6 sachets of ketchup to cover it so you would have to raid empty tables for more.

I missed that one. I stuck to cornish pasties and chinese take-out most of the time.

Christ American TV is shit. No wonder they all voted for Trump.

No doubt. Some have termed the turn of the century as the 2nd golden age of television and I don't see how that could be true.

Aside from Boardwalk Empire, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad, Buffy, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Daily Show under Stewart and Noah, Game of Thrones, Homeland, House of Cards, Kimmy Schmidt, Girls, Mad Men, Community, The Sopranos, South Park, The Wire, 24, Adventure Time, Alias, Angie Tribeca, Lost, American Horror Story, Archer, Colbert, Dexter, Deadwood, Firefly, Flight of the Conchords, Justified, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Louie, Ed, Insecure, Malcolm in the Middle, My Name is Earl, Modern Family, New Girl, The US Office, The Chappelle Show, Comedians in Cars Having Coffee, Battlestar Gallactica, Parks and Recs, The Good Wife, Oz, Orange is the New Black, Bob's Burgers, Children's Hospital, Happy Endings, Young Justice, Cosmos, The Shield, Six Feet Under, Spongebob Squarepants, True Detective, The West Wing, The Walking Dead, Scrubs, Phineas and Ferb, Wilfred, Psych, Monk, Pushing Daisies, Bones, Big Love, Brooklyn 99, Prison Break, The Flash, Episodes, Fringe, The Newsroom, Westworld, Robot Chicken, Weeds, Dollhouse, The Americans, Everybody Hates Chris, The Night Manger, Stranger Things, Transparent, The Man in the High Castle, Silicon Valley, BoJack Horseman, Veep, Better Call Saul, Lady Dynamite, Narcos, Billy on the Street, Atlanta, Sons of Anarchy, Blackish, The Good Place, Robot Chicken, Last Week Tonight, Full Frontal, American Gods, Mozart in the Jungle, Myth Busters, Brain Games, Sense 8, Netflix's Marvel Franchise (JJ, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist) and Rick and Morty, they've got fuck all to brag about over the period.

I only know of those in bold and you mentioned Lady Dynamite twice, who is she that she gets 2 mentions?

Damn...how could anyone have the time to watch even 1/4 of those shows (many of which I've never heard of)? I'm lucky if I get five hours of television in a week (not including Spurs).

I quite enjoyed it and liked the two brothers, came across as decent guys

I hated New Kids On The Block with a passion when I was growing up (jealousy, mostly), but I really like Donnie Wahlberg. Much of that is due to the job he did as Carwood Lipton in Band of Brothers.

Thanks for pointing out that I had listed Lady Dynamite twice by accident. This list was collated late at night in a mood of silliness so is rife with potential errors :) LD is a new Netflix show by Mitch Huruwitz of Arrested Development and staring Marie Bamford. It's well worth its acclaim.

And by the way, lots of good shows here. But lots and lots of shit too. It's not a cultural thing. It's a volume issue. You make 4 billion shows a year and your bound to have lots of good, bad and every level in between :)

Same everywhere. For every Mitchell & Webb or QI, there is a Heil Honey, I'm Home or that shitshow that started Corben's career. :D

I'm claiming The Night Manager for Britain (was mainly BBC I believe) but in return I will give you "The night of" to replace it-brilliant series ;)

As long as you don't try to claim Oliver. :) He was niche at best in Britain (I remember Political Animal and his early stints on Fighting Talk) and just blew up under Jon Stewart (who has a great track record of turbo charging careers). Odd how that one worked. But I think he was necessary in light of NM's Tom Hiddleston as well as Idris Elba They are too cool and the US market needed a counter-balance in uncool and David Mitchell had a solid career in England so wasn't available to balance them :D

But more than NZ or the US, you do get the majority of the credit for Flight of the Conchords. Without the BBC Radio Series, they remain obscure local comedians. But the BBC series not only got them noticed by HBO, but is the framework of the television show that turned them global. The Muppets thank you.
