Kudos to these 2 guys as For me they are the only 2 players so far this season who've played with real attacking intent, like they fuckin well mean it!

Both get a lot of stick and for some things rightly so, however when they go forward they do it with purpose and like they want to and believe that they can make something happen. They will take defenders on and try to pose them problems and they will do it at pace. Townsend will get shots off (probably too many) and both will try to get crosses in, people will say that their crossing and particularly Walker is poor, well when he usually has 1 forward to seek out against 4 or 5 defenders guess what, he's not going to find him very often. He does what most of the time he should be doing which is putting the ball into areas for our players to attack, the fact that we get no bodies in there to do it is not his fault. Walker has created good chances, for example in the last 2 games he created our best chance against Newcastle for Eriksen and on Sunday he created our best chance for Lamela with 2 great bits of play.

Outside of these 2 nobody and I mean nobody else (Lamela excluded as not enough time) goes forward and attacks with pace, purpose or intent. They amble, stroll and almost seem reluctant to take somebody on, sprint, make a third man run, drive into the box, get across the front post, pretty much do anything with real intent and menace. Third man runs are a classic, I don't think outside of Walker who's a fuckin FB I've seen any player make a third man run to try and make something happen for somebody else all season, why not, it's a basic attacking weapon, are we afraid of getting players caught beyond the ball. I haven't seen one midfield player try to drive beyond Soldado in the middle third all season, not once, not a single once, in 12 games that's unbelievable!

I'm not saying Walker and Townsend are our best players, far from it, but I am saying that they are the only 2 who attack with pace, verve and some bloody desire.

We need the same determination from others in the attacking part of our game and if we can get it then our play will naturally quicken and teams will find us much more difficult to defend against.

Walker has one assist in all matches
Townsend 2 goals, two assists. Most of which came in our EL qualifier

Desire only gets you so far.

I don't care about the stupid assists stat, it's not walkers fault that Eriksen misses a sitter against Newcastle or Lamela has a lack of confidence prod at City, or in Townsends case Paulinho doesn't convert from a yard at Villa. Also goals from FB's are merely a bonus so I don't care about that either, what in care about is players having some intent and purpose and playing like they mean it!

We've probably got more talented players and if they could mean it as well then we might start getting somewhere when we attack.

Not really a 'stupid stat' & i'venothing against either of then generally but Walker doesn't use the ball effectively in attacking positions and neither, often does Townsend.

They've been on the pitch for most of the season, so they have to be partly culpable for our malaise in front of goal. Looking like you're trying is only half the story, else how would Berbatov have ever got on the pitch.

You don't understand what I'm talking about, I'm not talking about trying.

And the assist stat is a misleading measure, Eriksen misses a sitter put on a plate and no assist, Ozil passes 2 yards to Ramsey who cracks it in the top corner from 25 yards and ooh an assist, it's misleading and it's pointless.

Footballing stats are really a bunch of hummingbird drivel. DO a FRAAB analysis, just look at teh fecking pitch it's obvious that wherever Walker and Townsend go things happen.

oh and I wanted to punch AVB in the head quite hard for not letting Andros have run at Zabaletta during the city debacle.. just wanted to say that

I can't understand any Spurs fan who doesn't want Townsend in our team,Man city would have been worried about him and would have made sure that their defence was set up to stop him at all costs.
Currently he is the ONLY threat in our team, with him in the team he is occupying 3 or 4 players and that gives others an opportunity to find space.

Dropping Townsend for Lennon has to go down as one of the stupidest decisions Andre has made in his tenure.
For all his limited final effect, Townsend is indeed a 'handful' and relieves pressure very effectively.
And sure he does shoot wildly, but at least he does shoot unlike Tinkerbell Lennon.

Sigurdsson, Townsend, Soldado, Paulinho & Chadli all show up as our players who shoot in the stats. On Sunday, three of them didn't play, Soldado didn't touch the ball in the box and Paulinho looked like he was asleep.

What can you do?

leave the stats back at the training ground, staredown each player in turn before a game and if anyone flinches you don;t pick them...

half seriously, feck stats ...make sure they want to go out and kill someone on game day

On a similar note, i can't for the life of me understand why any coach would not instruct Dembele to try and recieve the ball near the opposition box and drive at players committing them. There is not a defender in PL who would like Mousa dribbling at them in the box, he's almost impossible to tackle when he drops his shoulder.
