He played shit yesterday, despite the set up for the first.. He was terrible defensively.

BAE is a model FB. Different class.

BAE took plenty of time to mature into the FB he is today. I really like Walker and I think he is doing a fantastic job so far for his first season with such a big club.

I'm at a loss to know what all this being on the wrong side/bad defending has cost us or if it has happened.
The other criticism is he uses his pace to get out of mistakes, well you could say he knows he's good enough to cover the distance anyway, I've also seen his pace safe us from errors from more established defenders.

Why do we have to side with one rather than the other.

I rate Corluka as a cool, calm defender.

I rate Walker as a "hot prospect for the future". Or in SpursKing terms: One To Watch ++. He's very much the modern full-back, but he's raw and will only get better with time.

They are both better than Dean Austin.

TBF to him those 8 goals came against the 2 best sides we will play against this season and coincided with us having a midfield like swiss cheese, I doubt Walker playing instead would have made much difference.

I hate the way some fans have to like one an hate the other, why is it so difficult to see the merits that both offer?

I was being a bit tongue in cheek.although we conceded none against utd for the half walker was on ;)

I posted a thread a few months ago saying how good I thought Walker would be for us. I said he would be our first choice RB. I got slated!! Everyone posting saying if Lennon was playing Charlie should be our RB and Walker no where near good enough.

Well its still early days but the boy Walker is proving me right! Good enough to be our first choice and can play with Lennon.
As for Charlie too slow for a full back!!! In fact I really don't see what the fuss is about him. Rated Hutton over him.

It's actually highly ironic and very funny that the OP used to bang on endlessly about how brilliant Taarabt was and how horrid Mr Redknapp wouldn't give him a chance.

Walker is great and getting better, what more could you ask from a 21 year old.

Another fine display from the lad, this time for England. What really impresses me with Walker are his energy levels. He continued to surge forward and show great pace tracking back in the 80 minutes + mark.

When he makes a mistake he really works hard to rescue the situation too. The great thing about his pace is it really helps him bail himself out of situations.

His positioning can still let him down at times but that will come with experience. But the pace as I say can really help him make up for finding himself out of position.

I like how he seems to think about what he's doing before he puts a cross in too. Even when it doesn't come off you can tell he is actually aiming for someone rather than just putting a hopeful ball into the box.

I have high hopes for Walker and I think he'll be Englands right back for years to come sooner rather than later. Ability wise I think he's the next Ashley Cole.

i said the only way he is gonna get better is by playing every week... and he is getting better with each game.

Maybe Walker will follow Gareth Bale. Leaving FB Position and moving in front where his strengthes are.

He has to improve his defense skills, but if he can manage that, great future for Kyle :)

I hate seeing people suggesting moving him forward to right midfield. It's a stereotypical thought to have and the reason why England are so crap at International level. Kyle Walker is a right back. No doubt about that. He possesses neither the technical ability or it seems tactical nous to be able to play further up the field where you need craft and imaginitive play. Lennon struggles there from time to time, never mind Walker!

He can be a great right back IMO and is well on his way towards becoming exactly what I stated a few posts above - the best right back in Europe within a couple years.

Yep, right back through and through.

What an athlete though! Stupidly quick, amazing endurance and strong as an ox. Awesome.

Agree with your analysis there. Maldiini was also great at going forward yet Milan never employed him as a wide MF.
Whether Walker will be the best RB in Europe in 2 seasons remains to be seen - though I have hight hopes he'll turn into one of the best.

Walker is quality. When the guy runs with the ball it's frightening. The great thing is he always looks to put in a quality cross. He has great composure and all top teams need attacking full backs
