It's rare to see 45 minutes where we dominate so totally and make virtually no meaningful chances. The commentators have the explanation, to the point of being quite tart: the quality of the balls into the box has been simply dreadful, whether we're seeing a million crosses, a few failed through balls, two free kicks and the odd shot. There's no point, no aim to most of them. They're just chuck-it-in balls and you can't do that effectively when there are 10 opposition players clustered around the target. Everything bounces off.
We haven't mounted a single counter-attack that I can recall, partly because Watford rarely advance far enough up the pitch to counter. As we can't get in behind, unless we can muster up a better quality of delivery, we won't come close to scoring unless they fuck up.
Our midfield has been totally in control, winning the ball at will. Their wingers have been pinned back. Our defence has not been tested. But no one has a clue how to get the ball to a striker - or anyone - in a position where they can shoot on target.
