It's rare to see 45 minutes where we dominate so totally and make virtually no meaningful chances. The commentators have the explanation, to the point of being quite tart: the quality of the balls into the box has been simply dreadful, whether we're seeing a million crosses, a few failed through balls, two free kicks and the odd shot. There's no point, no aim to most of them. They're just chuck-it-in balls and you can't do that effectively when there are 10 opposition players clustered around the target. Everything bounces off.

We haven't mounted a single counter-attack that I can recall, partly because Watford rarely advance far enough up the pitch to counter. As we can't get in behind, unless we can muster up a better quality of delivery, we won't come close to scoring unless they fuck up.

Our midfield has been totally in control, winning the ball at will. Their wingers have been pinned back. Our defence has not been tested. But no one has a clue how to get the ball to a striker - or anyone - in a position where they can shoot on target.

Absolute priority in this window has to be a better attacking RWB. Use Emerson in the games where we need to defend, but we need someone with a bit of threat in that position in games like this.

Yup pretty poor overall. Dominating the ball but not being incisive or creative at all. Not been that impressed with Holjberg and both full backs have been truly terrible in advanced positions. Sessegnon if he can stay fit will be first choice and although I like Emerson I would actually try Doherty today. Need some subs imo as we need some new ideas.

Seriously. Just weird and unhinged getting that invested into this.
Wishing death or at the very best a near death experience on anyone is totally fucked up with very very few exceptions, a ref of a football match is not one of them.

I'd try Emerson at RCB and take Sanchez off. Doesn't use the ball well enough and at least Emerson will try and break forward. Put Gil at RWB but stationed in an advanced role.

Also wish we had the someone to replace Son with. He's almost always poor these days. Needs competition more than Kane does.
Why? Sanchez is playing fine, if someone needs to come off to give us a better attaching threat down the right it should be Emerson surely?

I don't know how you solve this, other than just hoping something comes off. The whole game is taking place in the 10 yards outside Watford's box. We're trying to go through the middle, we're getting it out wide, we're switching play, we're getting (shit) crosses in. I think the only thing we could do 'more' of is striking it from 20 yards and testing the keeper.

We are busy, committed and dominating. Guess we just keep battering the door.

I hate these games.

I think we need to develop a 352 approach to these types of games, with two proper centre forwards up top able to actually do something with the crosses the wing backs should be supplying. It’s way too packed in the middle and we don’t seem to be able to react to wide crosses in ways we need to

Bit embarrassing for Royal that he knows that they are happy to let him have the freedom of the right flank, knowing that he can’t cross for toffee.

Reggie not much better on the other side.

Son and Moura creating nothing and looking leggy.

We’ve got an abundance of creatives on the bench. No excuse to not involve at least two of them in the second half.

VAR again proving pointless. Could have had two pens but deemed acceptable to rugby tackle in the box.
Made up my mind now he should be a back up not a normal starter. Don’t really know why we bought him.

I know. Proper miserable but I’m so tired of how poor we are in attack. This Watford team are shit.
Haha fair enough mate.

Try to enjoy the process under conte, we might nick a goal but at least we are dominating the ball and have a clear plan now and it’s Jan 1st and I’m certain we will make some signings so it’s only going to get better in the longer term.

People love to bring up Eriksen but don't mention the team (structure, chemistry, patterns etc) he played in and the players he played with.

Eriksen would have also struggled under Mourinho and Nuno and he wouldn't make the current group world beaters.

It doesn’t need to be Eriksen, just someone that could open up tight opposing defences. We had the same
problem against Southampton.

Despite all our possession today, we’ve hardly troubled their gk.

Crossing into a box that has 7+ defenders against 2/3 attackers is not the easy task all of you make it out to be.
Then we have to ask, why are we so defensively minded that we have 3 central defenders and 2 holding midfielders on the pitch against Watford?

Spurs looks so easy to defend against when Son Kane and Moura are the only ones they need to Focus on and they almost always stay on the same position, only Kane wanders around.

76% possession and 3 fouls each!!!

Sounds like they should try playing behind them instead of just passing the ball around infront of them….

Don't cross it then. Skip and Lucas have been available to Emerson almost all half to keep the build-up rolling, but the amount of times he's crossed it to a CB is ridiculous.
For fans to then say "WHY DON'T YOU CROSS IT?!" - can't win pal. Don't think we've been that bad tbh. If H scores the only actual chance we've had, then none of this chatter is around.
