Watched the game again, bit less stressful knowing the result.
Two things, Lo Celso changed the game. We were a lot quicker attacking and more frequent once he came on for Ndombele. I think he's better suited to that sort of game.
Lo Celso's introduction roughly coincided with Spurs starting to dominate the game, but I don't think there was a great deal of cause and effect at work - and I didn't think so at the time.

West Brom got tired. With the amount of frantic, sustained pressing they had done all match to keep us successfully in a box, it was always going to happen around the 70-75' mark. For over an hour, they effectively neutralised the superior ball skills of our midfield by being more energetic and quicker to the loose ball. Eventually, the exertion had its effect and they slowed down. At that point, we brought on fresh legs: Lo Celso, then Lucas and Vinicius. And we were able to keep the ball, which tired them out even more.

Mourinho's substitutions were all attacking in nature and all effective, but I think their timing was more important than the personnel switch in midfield.

Really don’t get the negativity, ok it wasn’t pretty but those of us that were at Brighton away last season won’t be too concerned. Winning things is a lousy grinding out results in tough games. The last three games we haven’t been great but 9 points with one conceded suits me just fine

The result is not that bad lads ☝West Brom is always a difficult game. Let’s take the 3 points and move on.

It is these next 6 games where I think Jose will show his worth compared to Poch . Poch would have played the same way he has always done as that is his philophesy having been brought up the " Bielsa way " Notice Leeds now you know what you are going to get this is why as much as I loved Poch he did not want or was not able to change his way of playing he was either stubborn or arrogant or both .
Jose has said " the best teams do not always win " he also said that he read Darwins theory of evolution and the biggest and strongest did not always survive those that can adapt to a situation survive . I believe he will be pragmatic and we hopefully will come out the other end OK . What I do know is that while I have given Jose my full backing these six games will prove me right to do so or wrong to do so .
It will be interesting will it not ?

The other thing, and I was irate at the time but forgot to mention it, WTF was Moura doing late on when we were 1.0 up and he did a repeat of what Winks did against West Ham. He tried to dribble out from just outside the D, knocked ot to far in front and lost possesion. Ffs think! There was just a few minutes left. Clear it. These type of brain farts are costing us. Just watched Davies against Antwerp again, fk me sideways. I dont think Jose will put up with that sort of shit for long.
I agree in part regarding GLC but I think it's fair to say West Brom tired aswell. They worked really hard for 60+ minutes.

Yes I was a bit surprised he said brilliant, workmanlike is how I would have described our performance.

I think it looked a very tired performance after Ludogorets in midweek and an early kickoff in an away game. Ridiculous scheduling as has been said repeatedly but we managed to grab 3 points which is the most important thing.

In rugby they call them finishers. Full of energy skill and power. Suits Jose’s style.

Watching the highlights on Motd2.

I didn't notice live, but after Kane scores, Vinicius runs into the net and collects the ball, runs out and launches into the stands...... clever **** :D

In the highlights I didn't see him launch it into the stands but saw him collect the ball and assumed he booted it. Good lad!

It wasn't good but I liked the energy that Lucas gave us in general from off the bench. Looks much brighter when he's up against tired legs.

Vinicius was unlucky not to score, ball ended up a bit behind him but still dug out a strong effort. Was nice to see him say on social media that it was the realisation of a dream in making his PL debut.
I will be delighted when Vinicius scores his first goal, hopefully it will be soon. Once he gets the first one and plays even more minutes, I think more will come. It must be very difficult for him when he isn't get full games and still has to learn the language, but the signs are promising.
