And so few Spurs fans live there now!

So presumably they'd be happy for us to move away all together then they could park wherever they like.

I walked up Park Lane today with my son who lives at Plaistow and he tells me that all around his way there are homes and shops with West Ham flags and other West Ham colours up and cars with Hammers stickers etc, along Park Lane I saw not one single thing that would lead me to believe that we were 200 yards from one of the most famous football clubs in the world, not one single bloody flag, sticker or pennant and I have still to see a local kid with a Spurs shirt on rather than an Arsenal or Man Utd shirt.

The sad thing SS57 is that the Spurs have moved away already, you are now a dieing breed, a Spurs fan in Tottenham, and sadly most local people do see the club as just a nuisance that makes it difficult for them to park rather than part of their heritage.

I lived in N17 in 2006-2008 and most people in the area supported Spurs

Perhaps because there is no point in winning games when you cant be proud of it?

And I, like many others, wont be as proud of THFC anymore if we moved to East London.

If supporting a football club was all about winning, then I would have supported Chelsea or Man Utd

I can fully understand your point of view and I agree with you. But due to the new rules which come into effect in a few years and the restrictions being placed on us by other external parties, i.e. CABE, English Heritage, TFL, Haringey Council etc... staying in Tottenham is not only less viable now but will actively harm the clubs chances in the future.

The laws state that all clubs must opperate within their means and wages must not exceed 50% of turnover. Now this immediately puts clubs in larger stadiums at an advantage as they can and generally do pull in more money and can afford higher wages. The difference between a 56 000 and an 80 000 seater is (80k - 56k) * 30 (home games incl. cups) * £100.00 (Average ticket price incl. coporate) = £72 000 000.00 /2

**£36M is a lot of extra wages to attract players like VdV and keep players like Bale, Modric, Hudd, Kaboul etc...

As much as I like the idea of staying in Tottenham, unless we are allowed to build as large a stadium as possible, I think staying put would be detrimental to the long term future of the club.

And here is the rub, I support Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, not Tottenham. I want the best for the club I support. I want us to maintain this challenge on the Premiership top spot and the CL. I want a stadium that we can be proud of and fits not just the season ticket holders, those on the waiting list and corporate types but folk like me who only get to go to a few games a year when no one else wants to go.

** Note: I realise that assumes a sell out for 30 games but remember that corporate tickets go from £140.00 to £1,600.00 so my guestimations can't be too far off.

This post is based completely upon the precarious assumption that we can fill a 80k seater stadium week in week out.

We cant. Only Man U can consistently fill such a stadium. If we win the league, of course we could fill it most days, but we're not going to win the league by 2012, and we're going to lose the home advantage we have now, where our team is driven on by our great support. In an 80k round thing, our atmosphere will be shit at best.

I realise its font size 1 but did you miss my **Note at the bottom? Oh yes you did! :bang: Please also note the wording I used. Not fill but sell out. Big difference. Fundamental even.

current season ticket holders 24,000
on paid waiting list 25,000
additional corporate levels 5,000 - 10,000 (boxes, corporate, hospitality)
away fans 2,000 - 10,000
members 40,000
people like me uncountable

so even with the season ticket holders, corporate and waiting list plus away fans (5,000) that is 64,000. What no members get to go and no one else either! Shocking. And to think you wanted us to sit on laps in the 56,000 seater :snooty:

Facetious I know but really, read the whole post before inserting foot into mouth

bigturnip....what did you think of the possibility of us playing games at Wembley for financial reasons? Wembley is further away from Tottenham than the olympic site.

My views of playing at Wembley would be exactly the same as playing at the OS, it's not in Tottenham.

Some very big assumptions there, a 100% take up rate from the waiting list, a 100% ST renewal rate and a monumental increase in corporate tickets.

What is far more likely to happen if we move to an 80,000 seater in Stratford is many of the ST holders won't renew on principal, some won't ever go again, many won't renew because there won't be any difficulty in getting tickets, most of the ST waiting list won't take up the option for the same reason and members/non-members will be able to get tickets for the 'big' games, so won't bother attending the 'smaller' games.

We could actually end up with lower attendances for the likes of Wolves and Wigan than we do now, if you can only make it to one or two games a year, why would you choose those matches if tickets for games against the Sky 4 were so readily available?

There is a big misconception that more seats means more turnover, the truth is it's about finding the right amount of seats to keep the punters paying top money while keeping the stadium full so the punters carry on thinking they need to pay top money.

following the laws of economics an increase in supply with lead to a drop in price. I'd also expect a drop in renewals and in the current economic climate a drop in take ups by those on the waiting list. But I do not think those drops would both be over 10%. Plus you missed out on those that are members and there are many thousands of members who would go more often if they could. Then there are those like me who would go more often if it was easier to get a ticket. I'd much rather spend £80 going to a game than at a pub pissing it up one night

I don't think my assumptions are accurate but neither do I see them as too wide of the mark

I Think there's some evidence to support it though bigturnip:)

Protest before the Chelsea game appears to be off according to their website

As a result of Boris Johnson having passed planning approval the protest at the Chelsea game will NOT be going ahead as we feel it only fair to allow the club to clarify their position following this news. We also do not wish to put further pressure on the Police on derby day.
