According to NBC
Chelsea, Spurs to share Wembley Stadium as temporary home?

By Joe Prince-WrightSep 10, 2015, 10:55 AM EDT

“Come on you Spurs/Blues” could soon be the chant at Wembley Stadium in years to come.

According to the Chief Executive of the English FA, Martin Glenn, who spoke at the Soccerex conference in Manchester on Wednesday, the possibility of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur sharing Wembley is likely.

Both Chelsea and Spurs are said to have lodged bids with the FA to use Wembley as a temporary home while their respective Stamford Bridge and White Hart Lane stadiums are redeveloped.

Here’s what Glenn had to say when asked if both Chelsea and Tottenham could use the stadium at the same time, as past reports suggested that both clubs had offered the FA contrasting offers to use English soccer’s national stadium exclusively.

“I won’t comment on clubs but if that’s an opportunity then we will follow it,” Glenn said. “We are there to provide help. We can run the FA for less costs and we can raise more there’s a range of things. It’s primarily a football stadium, football matches are more profitable to run than concerts and other things. We are the national stadium and seeking to use it more is what we are all about. We have an obligation to football.

“It’s in our interest as an association for clubs to redevelop their grounds, make superb facilities and if it’s possible to help them in that transition by using Wembley, we are absolutely supportive of that.”

Spurs will need a new stadium for the 2017-18 season, as WHL will be knocked down and redeveloped to house over 60,000 fans using land opposite the current stadium. Spurs have also signed a 10-year deal with the National Football League (NFL) to host at least two NFL games per season when their new stadium is completed. As for the Bridge, plans have been posted with Hammersmith and Fulham council to increase the stadium to around 60,000 and if those are approved, the reigning PL champions will also need a new home for two seasons, which includes the 2017-18 campaign.

Its a soulless shithole of a ground that's bloody awful to get to from North London - very sad we can't sort out the Olympic Stadium
Wembley though at least isn't Milton Keynes which is probably one of the few things going for it

All about opinions, but Wembley is a million miles better than the Olympic Stadium in every way, particularly the slightly less of a souless shithole.

I'd go and watch the Spurs on the marshes if needed.
Everywhere we go.

Very pleased if this goes ahead - dunno what I'll do if it's Milton Keynes as it's enough of a problem buying match tickets on my income without having a train fare to bletchley on top... Staying in London for the year away from WHL is really important.

Opposite for me.... 10 min car drive to Stadium MK and free parking
Train fair to Wembley slightly cheaper than a Travelcard though.

I have been to the new Wembley a fair few times now - and its a terrible place to watch football - the atmosphere is awful people are up and down every five minutes - its basically a non football- football ground. Plus from North London its a pig to get to and there is no parking to speak off. It will be even more soulless if its half empty sadly though there aren't many other options surely Milton Keynes is just an unfunny joke

I have been watching Spurs since the mid seventies now, have held a season ticket since the early eighties and probably missed a handful of home games since then. But its habitual once people start missing a few games and you can watch matches on the laptop or down the local pub and you haven't had to fork out the best part of a grand which may increase by the time we move its not as straight forward as saying we have a shiny new home everyone will go back and all those on the season ticket list will suddenly lump up money for a season ticket.

I personally think its going to be a difficult transition the crowd at Tottenham is an old crowd and I think Mr Levy might not have the uptake he expects but perhaps that's what the club wants as its much more lucrative to have people turn up 3 or 4 times a season buy a package and throw lots of money at the Spurs shop and in a shiny bar in the ground

Am I the only one that finds it really annoying when people call us this?

What's wrong with it? Been around for donkeys years.
I always use this term. I'm going over the Spurs, I'm taking the kids to the Spurs. Up the Spurs.

Actually, what I find a bit annoying is being constantly referred to by sky as Tottenham. What I mean is when it appears on the telly as Tottenham vs Whomever rather than Tottenham Hotspur vs Whomever.
Anyway, ignore me. I'm a dinosaur.

Maybe it's all a generation thing.
