From Vital football:

Tottenham Hotspur have received an extra £500,000 due to Dean Marney's promotion with Hull City.

Following the success at Wembley, Hull City have had to pay an extra £500,000 to the half a million already paid for the former Spurs player following promotion. The total transfer fee now makes Dean Marney the second highest in the club's history, following the capture of Caleb Folan for £1.3 million.

Marney made eight appearances for Tottenham in the Premier League, scoring two goals, and the midfielder is relishing the chance to return to White Hart Lane after leaving them as a youngster.

The central midfielder excelled during Hull's promotion campaign, missing only five games which included both play-off semi final's following a knee injury. Unfortunately, Marney only made an appearance at Wembley as a 90th minute substitute, and then missed some of the celebrations having been randomly chosen for a drugs test after the final whistle.

Marney is expected to be a vital part of Phil Brown's squad next season as Hull look to maintain their Premier League status.

That's a nice little half a mill....will pay someone's wages for a while next year...he's like the gift that keeps on giving.

I was a little sad when we sold Marney - pleased he's done well and I'm sure he'll get a good reception next season.

Also what's the drug test about??? Seems very odd when he should have been celebrating.

bit out of order to give him a drugs test at the only time he'll be celebrating at wembley in his life (probably). Still, will be interesting to see how he does with regular games in prem next season.

So he fetched us 1 miooion in total? Not bad business. Hope he continues to improve, and maybe we may get another windfall in future.

drugs tests are always done after games and they're always random

pretty sure mido had one after the carling cup cemi last year, and that was just enough time for jol to grab him and block his move to Man City.

Is that by any chance a reference to how that that ejut Gordon Brown says million and billion - as if all that matters in any commons statement is to get those words into every sentence.

e.g. "Mr Speaker, as the right-honourable gentleman well knows, this govenment has invest 3 biooion poounds into looking like twats over the last 10 years"

Or is it Del-boy (in which case should really be "miwwion")
