Not surprised the penalty was given, can't imagine it would have been though if it was in the Utd box.

Absolute, nailed on red card though, just listening to Townsend on ITV, he's as much of s **** as Webb.

EDIT: just realised I've almost written word for word what BC said...

When will something be done about the constant stream of decisions that go in uniteds favour? Im not specifically refering to the two key decisions yesterday, as i think they were both 50/50 anyway, but rather the ones that add up over a season and make all the difference in a title chase. One of these days we'll play united on a level playing field and i just hope its this sunday as we're long over due giving them a good tonking.

There was definite contact on Berbatov, the sad reality for footballers is if they don't go down they don't get a pen.

It was a foul and Giggs should have had a penalty in the second half as well. Gerrard's was a definite red and not the first time he has put in challenges like that.

Couldn't believe what I was watching last night(well I could because thats pretty standard ITV football coverage) but to try and justify the Gerrard challenge using the Mackie injury was pathetic.

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Babel has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association.
The charge is in relation to comments and images posted by the Dutchman on social networking site Twitter regarding referee Howard Webb

in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Webb handed Dimitar Berbatov

a controversial penalty in the opening minute of the clash before dismissing Liverpool

captain Steven Gerrard

later in the first half for a lunging challenge on Michael Carrick.

After the game Babel aired his frustration on Twitter, writing: "And they call him one of the best referees? That's a joke. SMH (shaking my head)."
The Dutchman also posted a mocked-up photo of Webb wearing a Manchester United shirt.
The Holland international later added: "My apology if they take my posted pic seriously. This is just an emotional reaction after losing an important game.
"Sorry Howard Webb."
Apology

The apology has not been enough to prevent a charge from the FA, who said in a statement: "The charge relates to comments and images published by the player on Twitter concerning referee Howard Webb."
Babel has until 4pm on Thursday to respond to the charge.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish

said earlier he felt it was just a joke and had hoped further action would not have been necessary.
"Maybe I've been out of the game too long but let's see if they can find a sense of humour," he said. "He apologised straight away."
And Dalglish joked: "I don't think he's clever enough technically to have drawn that up himself."
Babel is the first player to be charged with improper conduct over an offence on Twitter

I believe I have read somewhere that it's now 4 penalties Webb has given United in his last six games officiating them.

The red was the correct decision, no doubt in my mind. If we'd have got that penalty decision I'd be smiling, if it had gone against us I'd be wanting his head on a spear.

Still, I seem to recall reading he was on a five year sabbatical from the old bill and that will be up soon, so hopefully not long left to put up with this tosser and his MBE.

4 in 7, I believe.

Although to add to that, I did some rare research for the radio last night and dragged up Webb refusing a cast-iron pen when Rafael rugby tackled Pedersen against Blackburn with the score at 1-1, United going on to win 2-1 eventually.

Couldn't believe what I was watching last night(well I could because thats pretty standard ITV football coverage) but to try and justify the Gerrard challenge using the Mackie injury was pathetic.

You should have seen ESPNAsia. Steve McMahon went ballistic over Berba. He literally bullied Paul Parker into conceding that it wasn't a penalty (even though it was). He used the word "cheat" four times at half time and then again after the match.

I'm meeting him on Thursday for a Press Conference and have a list of nine confirmed dives by Steven Gerrard that won free kicks and penalties that had result-altering effects on matches for Liverpool. If I'm feeling brave I'm going to start a (admittedly pretty weak) media spat by asking McMahon whether he feels Gerrard is a cheat.

Re the pen. I think it looked like contact from where he was on the pitch, it's the kind of decision where his linesman should be helping him out.

As for the red, he didn't have any choice.
