How many people were begging for Pav to take the pen only to see Defoe step up and think "oh no, not Defoe". Fair play to him though, quality pen. COYS!!

Was screaming blue murder as Defoe placed the ball on the spot, couldn't believe that he had been reinstated as our chosen penalty taker.

Couldn't have struck it better, and great example of JD's mental strength. But it could be argued that law of averages says he was gonna' put one away.

Question is, if we got a pen' in the last minute @ Eastlands which would guarentee 4th spot would you want JD to take it ??????

My mate was going mental that Defoe was taking it. I told him, don't worry, he'll score

He showed good bottle to come off the back of a lengthy downswong.

Im happy for him to keep taking them, this surely must be a monkey off his back.

I have to hold my hand up, but he took it really well, full of confidence. Well done JD.

i said he'd score too - was reassuring a youngster near me 'believe' i told him

and verily so it was

thing is he did what he normally does in open play - hit the ball hard

why he's been trying to place them i dunno

hopefully he's learnt his lesson

the way pav was missing them today - just as well he didn't take the pen

Ill admit I was not happy when he stood up to take the penalty! However fair play to him for showing the bottle to take it. Lets hope he continues to take penalties like that from now on!

I was starting to close my eyes and then thought, 'Fuck it, by the law of averages he has to put one away sooner or later.' So I kept them open, and was rewarded.

I was literally shittin myself when I saw him step up, the goal just seems to look a lot smaller when JD's about to take a pen. Fair play to him though as he buried, was a great pen actually.

I cringed when I saw him grab the ball too, but fair play he lashed it home which shows a lot of bottle.

Would prefer if didn't take them though, he's no specialist, but thank god today he stepped up to the mark.
