Congratulations to Liverpool too, it's been an amazing season for them. There will be no jealousy on their part watching Chelsea in the CL final on Saturday because they won the Carling Cup and finished in the top half of the table, only 4 points behind Everton. To be honest, we all know they played probably the best football in the league, and much much better football than their results suggested. Plus had all the shots that hit the woodwork gone in, they wouldn't have dropped a point all season. Andy Carroll is probably one of the shrewdest bits of business in Premier League history, and I think his outstanding goal return in the league, particularly at Anfield, speaks for itself. Fantastic stuff. In Suarez and Gerrard they have two of the genuinely nicest gentleman you'll ever meet. It's been a pleasure watching them go about their business professionally on and off the field.

A final mention goes out to their illustrious leader 'King' Kenny Dalglish. Dignified in so many ways, a man who's surely going to lead them to 5 or 6 league titles in the next 3 years. I very rarely find myself disagreeing with anything he has to say in his interviews, always speaks the truth, and his fair and honest words just demand respect.

Liverpool FC - the definition of class. :)

OP summed my thoughts up exactly.

I had hoped when it eventually happened the football world would just refuse to acknowlege it but sadly isn't happening.

The shitty fans are enjoying it but must be an empty victory for them. Not sure I could.

So now we all know, you can buy the league.

True. and it'll only cost you a billion quid.
Give that to Lambert, Rodgers or Martinez and I believe Norwich, Swansea or even bloody Wigan would win it too.
Lucky for the Chavs there was a load of Russian mafia money that needed to be laundered.
Lucky for Shitty that some armpit of the Gulf has more oil than taste.
Level playing field? My arse!

Like us they surrendered a lead but congrats to City for showing mental strength and ultimately not caving under pressure.

Everyone buys the league. What City have done is no different to what United, Chelsea or Blackburn did. You buy the best players, you get the best team, it's not brain science.

I wouldn't lump United in with those that have bought the title, especially considering that most of their best side came through their academy.

It is sad that out of the 5 teams to have won the Premier League, 3 have blatantly bought it.

United are just as guilty, if that's the correct word.
All the top half teams buy their relative positions.

It's sad but true, which is why I don't see us getting a title until we have a new stadium up and running for a while. I think this is the first time that I have really wanted us to get taken over by a bazillionair, it just doesn't seem fair otherwise.

I was thinking as it looked like United were about to win the title that they are probably more financially obscene than City, at least with City it's their own money they're spending even if it is from extortionate oil prices.
It took City a long time to get there in what hasn't been a quality premiership and they had a really poor European campaign.

ManU are the biggest club in the world and are self sufficient.

Totally agree. The core of the Utd sides from the 1990s (Giggs, the Nevilles, Butt, Beckham, Scholes, etc.) were from the academy. Although, Utd did buy a lot of talent like Pallister, Bruce, McClair & Schmeichel, they never constantly blew the opposition out of the water until the start of the 2000s when they got Barthez, van Nistelrooy & Rio within a few seasons. Pallister, Bruce, McClair and Schmeichel each cost less than what we paid for Paul Stewart. During the 90s aside from the occasional big buy, e.g. Dwight Yorke, Utd never really spent amounts that the rest of the league couldn't afford. Utd paid pretty much the same for Andy Cole that we paid for Les Ferdinand.

United's success is built on an amazing manager and bringing through a bunch of superb players at the same time, and most importantly of all, an amazing marketing structure. They are where they are because they built in the correct manner ( marketing, increasing the stadium etc, they didn't sit and bask in their glory )

City and Chelsea's success could have happened at any other Prem club had Roman or Mansour rolled up there instead.

Mansour's success grates more than Roman's. At least Roman, despite being a touch dodgy, acquired his wealth, had to "work" for it etc. Mansour and his cronies benefit from sitting on oil. Roman is at the very least a shrewd, hard nosed money maker. These Arabs are basically playboys spending money they didn't earn in the first place.
At least old Jack Walker was a lifelong Blackburn fan and local chap. He just wanted to see his club win the league. Todays sugar daddies seemingly do an ip, dip, do when looking at the Premier League table in their search for reflected glory.

Whilst they may have done what Chelsea did a few years back, they have still had to gel as a team and do the business. So, I still think the players need to be congratulated. They are not all money-grabbing ****s up there... eg Kompany is a class act.
