Were laptops not being allowed into the ground in the previous game(s)? If so that's ludicrous. And what are people supposed to do on forthcoming midweek games? I simply won't go if that's the case.

Can anyone please advise on bringing a laptop into the stadium? Seems it's allowed but needs to be smaller than A4? My laptop is quite chunky.

I am not sure it needs to be smaller than A4 and you are allowed a laptop sleeve to put this in. Just double check the policy, if you are going tomorrow you should get an email from the club today reminding you of the policy etc

First time in the new stadium tonight. Went with a little satchel (maybe about 2cm larger than A4), which I’d taken to Wembley on numerous occasions in light of the bag restrictions. Nothing in there apart from some water and my work clothes.

It seemed like they had about 20 people specifically employed to spot people with oversized bags. The first 19 of them had a look and said it was fine, then of course the jobsworth at the final security check decided it absolutely wasn’t fine, and advised I went to the bag drop.

The queue was about an hour long, so I put back on all my work clothes over my normal clothes, folded up the bag and got my girlfriend to stuff it into the big pocket of her coat like some sort of satchel mule. Luckily she got in fine, preventing us from missing the first half.

It’s an absolutely farcical system, and does nothing but piss off the very people they’re trying to attract in the first place. It’s not like people are trying to smuggling in massive suitcases - I saw a middle aged Korean lady who spoke very little English being turned away because her little fabric bag (which could have been scrunched up into the size of a pea) was about a millimetre too big. I really don’t get what the club is playing at, I know the easy solution is to not bring a bag but it’s so impractical if a) you’re coming from work, like most people on a Tuesday night, or b) you’re not a regular. And whilst we managed to sneak our way in, for those who end up missing half of the game it obviously sours the whole experience.

My mate came with me the other week. His first visit. Brought a normal sized rucksack. Forgot to tell him about the strict bag policy!

I was worried walking up the steps to the Park Lane that we’d be sent to the bag drop area but he got in the small queue to have his bag checked, which it was, and then he was waived through the airport style security door frames and that was it....

Think you can be lucky or unlucky
