Tottenham Hotspur are considering a bid for Wesley Sneijder after appearing to miss out on Andrea Pirlo, it has emerged.

With reports in Italy suggesting that the Juventus midfielder is set to agree a contract extension in Turin, Tottenham and a host of other clubs monitoring his situation are set to be disappointed.

Spurs have also been linked with Inter Milan's Esteban Cambiasso, though SportsDirect News understands that they could also try their luck with an offer for Manchester United and Chelsea target Sneijder.

The 29-year-old has long been linked with an exit from the Turkish giants, despite committing his future to the club, and Spurs are the latest club to show an interest in bringing him to England.

The Dutch international is a similar style player to Pirlo, and could add some creativity to the Spurs midfield from a deeper role, with the likes of Sandro, Etienne Capoue and Mousa Dembele struggling to impress in that department.

in fairness to him, he is normally decent with info. He also only ever stated that Sneijder agreed personal terms with us, and that Inter and Tottenham had yet to agree on a final fee. Then, he reported Galatasarray had agreed a fee with Inter, and that was that. I think the entire thing blew out of proportion with people discussing Sneijder to us as a "done deal."
