Just been drawn in the Carling Cup. Bet the Police are well chuffed, not!

That will proper kick off. It's the kind of game Millwall fans have been waiting years for, a bet a lot of hooligans will come out of retirement for that one lol.

Yeah, what's the rivalry like between the two supporters, wonder if it's anything like Green Street, we all know Millwall fans are hooligans.

Erm. When Millwall came to Hull their were riots and the shopping malls had to be closed down because hooligans were going around smashing in some of the shop windows.

This is going to be shocking, expect their to be fireworks.

Personally I think things will pass off peacefully.
The most which happens these days is someone posts on youtube a group of fans chanting in a pub or behind a police escort. It's all abit sad really.

this is quite informative.

this from the Mail online
"Yet the two clubs have not met more than 10 times in the last 50 years, Millwall for so long trying to pop the bubbles the Hammers were forever blowing from one or two divisions above them.
But this is no footballing matter.
Back in the late 1970s, when I was a Den regular and used to go to London away games, a leaflet was handed to me while I stood at the Cold Blow Lane end.
It was a crude affair, with a grainy picture that had a name above it. He was a Millwall fan who had died after falling under a train a few years earlier during a clash with West Ham supporters.
It was seven days before Millwall were due to play at Upton Park and after recounting the circumstances of the fan's tragic death, it concluded in capital letters: A WEST HAM FAN MUST DIE NEXT WEEK TO AVENGE HIM.
If ever a 16-year-old needed a reason not to go to a football match that was it.
How the fan died varies: Millwall had him being pushed while West Ham said he tried to jump across a platform when confronted by fans he was attacking.
Either way that feud exists to this day, worsened by time rather than healed by it."

Anyone remember a fan dying after a game between Spurs and Man U at WHL in the early 80s, or is this just an urban myth

Football violence can still be a pretty big thing in some parts of the country, it's just not widely reported, sometimes because it's organised, granted it's not as bad as it used to be but make no mistake, there will be trouble at this game.

What happened?! Eek I'm intrigued.

Has anyone 'ere ever been to the old den? I've not had the, er, pleasure, of going and wondered if it was as intimidating and scary as I've heard it can be?

I'm going from a grainy memory but I seem to recall 2 fatalaties involving Spurs at home games in the 80's.

I think the Utd fan was killed at Seven Sisters station after fighting broke out on the escalators which resulted in a mass tumble to the bottom.

And I seem to recall (could be wrong) a Leeds fan being killed in fighting outside the Park Lane end, as I say my memory is somewhat grainy (a long time ago) and the incidents could have been the other way around.

I've been to the New Den and found it extremely intimidating, particularly after the game.

There is fencing from South Bermondsey station to the ground that reminds you of a concentration camp. When you leave the ground, you go down this alley, lined by the fencing, where you join the Millwall fans.

We were side by side with Millwall, with a copper every 2 meters in the middle separating us. I was with Carlisle fans, no rivalry at all, but they were still looking us up and down, calling us scottish ****s and basically looking for a spark from anyone.

that's the story i remember, someone hitting the emergency stop button which resulted in everyone falling down to the bottom.
i didn't know about the Leeds story, not surprised at all by it though

This is where the high fenced alley brings you out. You're cramped in between these two fences, side by side with a few thousand Millwall fans.

Eek

No wonder they have such problems! That looks a proper shithole!
I've always wanted to go since I was about 18, just to see if it was all it's cracked up to be.

Not sure I will tbh.

The scariest footballing thing (and it's tame tbh) that happened to me was when I went to see a West Ham game (not involving spurs) off the cuff. I was down in London and fancied seeing a game (spurs weren't playing) so I popped along.

I went to the Boleyn pub near the ground, dressed all anonymous like. It was heaving full of west ham fans. I went to the pub to get a drink, and totally forgot about my spurs membership card in the visible display bit of my wallet. As I had my wallet open to pay, some massive cockney geezer gave me a "nudge" and said "what the fuck is that mate" whilst pointing at the card....

He just stared at me and didn't say anything else. I was bricking it, and needless to say, left before anything else was said!

Back in the day a mate of mine was an active Bushwacker!

I might give him a call and see what if anything he thinks will happen here.
