I would agree with this if more players across the squad were being used, our patterns of play has regressed, most, if not all teams create many chances against us and we miss many chances through simple lack of application or very poor execution. I accept progression is not linear but how is it possible to have practically the entire team out of form? Othe teams have had as many injuries as us but their returning players are finding form and pushing on at the end of the season. Again, this is all mental - it's a mental block from many of these players - or we're just spursy and this is our DNA?
Ange is using pretty much all of our attacking players bar Gio, that’s the only one I have an issue with Ange on.

If teams sit back we just don’t have the players to break it down.

West Ham were always going to try to kill the game, a point was probably the best we could hope for. Still frustrating.

Go away you gooner/spammer 🥱

If this is serious it’s one of the most OTT ridiculous posts I’ve seen.
Mate just cos I have a differing opinion to yours don’t make me a “gooner/spammer” grow up you manchild.

maybe slightly OTT, but the football hasn’t been great the last few months - surely you can admit that.

Against us prolly yes as they always raise their game. The other sides around us have all pretty much given them a hiding though.
It's the first date they look for at the start of the season, it's more anticipated than a week in Marbella or getting Turkey teeth for them. With most of those other clubs it's just another game.

We have to live with the fact that (at least) three clubs and fanbases hate us more than any club, it does add some context onto the matches. That's why, even when they're shit, a draw away isn't the worst result in the world.

I’m said I’m happy to write this season off as long as we see a plan, way of setting up etc - but these last couple of months have been DREADFUL! Ironically since we’ve had our better players back. There no difference to the way we’re playing now to when conte was here. So bloody flat.
but don't say this because you get neg repped all over the place for having an opinion or criticising. I love our team and our coach - but we need to recognise when their performances are sub par. Tonight, we shot ourselves in the foot with tactics, selection and subs - and still could've won if we had more nous about us

It's clearly instructions.

Pretty much no one in our team is taking shots from outside the box this season
I dont think we're getting the room to do that. Ive seen Sonny and Maddison trying to work space for a shot from distance but not being allowed.

Only taking 13 shots given the wet conditions was a bit odd. If Maddison feels the need to drop so deep just to get the ball rolling then are Bissouma and Bentacour doing their jobs properly in terms of progressing the ball forward? If Son is playing as a striker then surely Maddison should be instructed to play nearer to him otherwise Son is never going to receive the kind of through balls that he thrives on.

The starting eleven and perhaps the squad as a whole seriously lacks size, physicality and aggression in these types of games which may need to be addressed in future transfer windows.

This is a universal problem: see Sunday when Arsenal did it to City.

Sorry but anyone saying 1-1 to this lot isn’t a bad result is exactly why we never win anything. Anything but a win is a poor result against the likes of WHam.
So people being pragmatic is the reason why we never win anything?

I don't think people's opinion is affecting our ability to win games.

Our biggest weakness is not our defending (although from set pieces that’s pretty gash), it’s not our midfield, it’s our forward line. We get forward, we get into positions but our decision making is average at best. So many times we make the wrong decision. We pass to the wrong player, we make the wrong run, we don’t shoot. There is just so much wrong with it and we won’t solve that this season. Teams have worked out how we play so we more and more have to break down a solid low block. We just don’t make decisions quick enough and well enough to break them down.
We have our best scoring output since the 60s. We don't however keep enough clean sheets.

So whether you thought Son and Porro were poor, you still think Kulu should be off the hook with that?
Agreed! He should have done better, but he came on when we already had lost our confidence. If we want to win anything in the near future, we do have to smash a team like West Ham. They were on their last legs.

It’s the nature of the beast mate, some people don’t realise that people are allowed a differing opinion. It’s actually quite sad.

yeah, he could've also blooded in donley by now. These are very concerning times for me - we have a stellar group of young players with nowhere to go as there is no progression pathway to first team - just the odd bench role and training with the first team. I get it's Ange's first season but he really needs to take a long hard look at how he has played the cards he's been dealt. He had every opportunity to bed in some youngsters, take some risks to figure out which players will be here next season, etc. He's done some of it but he cannot do it next season as honeymoon is over and fans are gonna be on his back if this is the quality the team churns out at the end of the season with a fully fit squad

Off the top of my head I don't think City score many from outside the box either.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

I think Pep (and Ange) see outside the box shots as 'low percentage opportunities'.

Which is typically true, unless you have Son who can routinely bend in worldies with either foot.

Aside from our goal and the Udogie chance in the last minute we never really troubled them , as I always say - we only really have one way of scoring . We’ve stopped taking shots from 20 yards out which is utterly bizzare when u have Son and Madison , but what I’m really uncomfortable with is our defending ,it’s Sunday league, what the hell were we doing in that last minute , it honestly beggars belief .

I think it was Souness that said it... Space doesn't score goals players do. I can't stand zonal marking.
Generally I agree but would say 1) zonal marking works but only if you’re really good at it. Advantage is you can’t get picked so easily, but we’re not good enough to operate it. 2).having said that, it’s not a feature of zonal marking to let someone have an uncontested header from 4 yards out right in the centre of the goal. That’s just bad execution whatever system you use
