I said as much at the time but Bilic has shown the world how to stop Spurs. That defeat against West Ham was when we started to crumble.

Ironically the way to stop us, is to press us higher up the pitch and stop us playing it out from the back. Primarily press Dier and Lloris when they're in possession. Our whole strategy then crumbles.

In isolation it's been a great year. We just finished in our highest league position since 1990. You can't argue with that. In context it's been a strange year generally and not just because Leicester won the title. I still maintain that up until Xmas we hadn't played very well. We had spells in games where we were excellent and awful. In the New Year it seemed to click. Until West Ham.

Poch's vision is obvious and effective. The problem I can see is that when it's not effective we struggle. Poch sets his teams up with one formation, one style of play. And if that doesn't work? Then we lose or draw. IMO he doesn't have the tactical flexibility required to be a top manager (yet, he is still young). What concerns me more is that his formation and style are mimicry. They aren't something he personally came up with. It's something he has seen done, believes to be successful and adopted as his own approach. With this in mind does this make him nothing more than a glorified motivator? Time will tell.

We play a high energy pressing game when we don't do that, we can get picked off easily

It all ended at Chelsea. We no longer had the fight. Simple.

So worrying.

No fight to want to finish as high as possible. Higher than Arsenal in god knows how long.

Such as shame. The players have let themselves and the fans down. Big time.

Now let us see where this team will end up come next season. Then we will have a clear indication if we have improved and whether the Poch really has it to compete with the top managers. Hope DL goes with his plan and backs him up big time.

It's not that hard to suss tho is it? Sit tight , use fast counter Attacks, nick a goal and watch us flounder trying to chase an equaliser :) especially without dele and Dembele , we are just bereft in midfield.

The problem is, they now go off to international squads or on holiday, and won't give a damn about what has happened. If I can think of positives, it's that Poch knows we need more guts and exceperiance in there. Will he buy a few more players now? 9 of them were to blame today

Agreed, just imagine if DL does not open his wallet wide enough, not sure squad fillers will be able to cover the cracks. We were always an injury or suspension on a few key players away from a bad run. Signing quality has never been more important imo.

Oh yeah, those eight-subsequent-games-unbeaten crumbles are the fucking WORST aren't they.

Three of the best performances of the season (Bournemouth, United, Stoke) came in the next six league games.

We didn't go 8 games unbeaten after West Ham did we? If we did I am sorry and admit I was wrong. If you are talking about games before the West Ham game then your point validates mine. That the West Ham game showed other teams how to stop us, at a time when we looked at times unstoppable.

Eight league games unbeaten following that result. You can include the Europa in your theory if you want, but considering 1) we essentially threw those games by putting out a fringe eleven and 2) Dortmund didn't beat us because they'd been watching West Ham, they played their usual game and blew us away because they're a better team, it's a huge stretch.

They'll be gutted I don't doubt. But they said that after the last game and before that after West Brom and Chelski.

They are feeling sorry for themselves. They are lacking experience and hunger after thinking the job is done.

I do worry about the psychological effect of this 'bottle job', because that is exactly what it is.

I said a Mason and Davies visibly 'shat' themselves against Chelsea and I'm not surprised they were two of the worst performers.

Just not good enough to be starting games.

Poch going to be so pissed.
Liked that he said he will analysis this game, and look for the reasons why. We know that Mason and Caroll aren't as good as the rest. But Oshea and Fletcher and Sun ji Park weren't outstanding in a Utd team either. They did there jobs. I wouldn't single out any one today.
As I said, someone like Eriksen was just as bad as Mason today

8 league games where we drew a lot we should've won. Arsenal dominated us until they went down to 10 men and still pegged us back to a draw. Liverpool outplayed us. We threw away a 2-0 lead against Chelsea. WBA's dominated us in the second half and deserved 3pts etc.

The best artists steal and all that jazz. One thing I do like about him is he isn't stubborn. He'll learn.

That's what concerns me. Because I do think he does appear to be stubborn. What makes you say he isn't?

It all ended at home to west brom failure to turn them over highlighted the lack of game changers within the squad.
I for one have been happy with the team this season but the last couple of weeks We have shed our spine and reverted back to the bad habits of the past.

I think this squad is has potential but needs to learn how to cope with pressure.

Theres no getting away from the fact we bottled it yet again, personally I'd get rid of Vertonghen no question and tbh I'm starting to doubt Lloris.
