Whilst I certainly am not expecting a top four finish this season I do find it quite annoying that opposition fans and by the looks of it a lot of our own fans give us zero chance at all.

In my eyes finishing above Liverpool, United and Everton this season is not impossible and shouldn't be written off.

Liverpool: Post Suarez, Europe this season, were level points with us 2/3 of the way through last season.
United: Still look a mess.
Everton: Near enough the exact same side we finished 3 points behind last year, replaced deulofeu with besic and atsu.

All opinions welcome, genuine interest in if our fans feel we have any chance at all.

I've said it since May, 30%. There is a highly complex mathematical procedure behind arriving at that number, including but not limited to the right amount of cider from Somerset

After much calculation I've worked out we have a 27.6% chance so I've had to round-up to 30%.

I believe City, Chelsea and Arsenal are the most consistent and will get 3 of the spots unless something goes wrong.

Utd don't have any European football. We saw how much this helped Liverpool last season and Jol in his first season getting us 5th. They have at least 3 world class attacking players in Rooney, RVP and Mata so see them as slightly ahead of us.

Liverpool are coming off a great season. If the situations were reversed we'd be confident of finishing above them.

We are looking pretty solid too though. Held onto our best players and our new manager has given us a little lift. I'm confident we'll have a good season but have to be honest and think Utd and Liverpool area little ahead of us. So slightly less than a third of a chance.

I don't expect us to finish top four because there are better teams equipped to deal finish in those places ahead of us but I expect us to be challenging for there or there abouts and have a bit more credibility about ourselves this season.

I think the fans are writing us off for four four is because it creates unnecessary pressure and expectations on us and I think they're starting to realise that we have no right to compete. I just hope that if we're on course for top four come Feb and we fade away to 6th it's not seen as a failure rather something we can build on.

I am not sure we can finish in the top four with our current squad, I just don't think we can score enough goals. However there is still time for additions and of course Soldado could start scoring (I won't hold my breath).

I think it is highly unlikely. The same way I don't expect the likes of say Newcastle, Southampton or Stoke to finish in the top 7.
The teams above us have more experience, more money, more pull, more everything.
I look forward to us giving the Europa league a good go, because that is our best chance.

I think this poll is too vague. Can you re-do it at every 5% to get a more accurate view of what all SC members think? :geek:

We've finished fourth twice in the last five years so 40% success rate (y)

50:50 for me. 2 key things, 1) who we bring in and 2) how quickly Poch gets his ideas across. We make a couple of good signings and Poch gets everything sorted on the pitch quickly and we'll be within striking distance for much of the season.

Slightly less than Arsenal, about as much chance as Liverpool and more than Utd.

I reckon we will.

Bang on. Which is, again, why I don't understand why more people aren't panicking more about the window. Seems most people are happy to finish 6th.
Most people are happy at this moment in time because we understand the concept of patience. We're willing to wait a season or 2 for Poch to get all his players he wants and a squad he's happy with. THEN, we should start hoping/expecting a Top 4 finish.

You are clearly not patient but you don't see it.

Eh? Please explain who we could get that would make us finish in the top 4.
