Simple thread I want posters to list down predictions or observations they made in the past and list what you got wrong, and right, for example I will start;

Wrong

I thought that Luka Modric would never work as a CM
I thought that Bale is better LB then LW
I thought BAE was woeful and would never make the grade
I thought that Defoe could work in a 4-5-1
I thought that we would be murdered if we play two winger in a 4-4-2
I thought that Rose was not even close to making the grade
I thought Harry Redknapp was a bad appointment and was not capable to bring us to the CL
I thought that Joe Cole would of been a good signing
I thought the Raziak was a good signing
I thought Bent was a waste of space in a starting line up
I thought Bent would imitate C.Allen's success after selling Berbs and Keane
I believed in the Ramos Revolution
I thought we would make the FA cup final by beating Portsmouth
I thought we would sign Arshavin
I thought Sandro would struggle to breakthrough
I thought Keane and GDS would both play an important part this season

right

I thought Bentley would fail at spurs
I thought GDS would fail at spurs
I thought sacking Jol would set us back a couple of years
I thought Rose could work as a full back
I thought we would beat Man city to clinch 4th
I thought we would win the CC with Ramos

well..you don't have to do that many....

Nice idea for a thread...

I said I thought JJ and Zokora might end up a world-class CM combo. This was a year into their partnership too.

I thought Harry was a depressing appointment and he'd take us backwards, but he went and got us qualified for CL.

I was delighted when we got Ramos and thought he was going to be the one that would finally get us our breakthrough.

They're the main ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I thought Ramos would succeed (wrong)

I thought re-signing Keane was a complete waste of money (jury's out on that one but I think I got it right!)

Wrong:

Taarabt would become a star for us.
Campbell would never leave after his enthusiasm during the 2001 lap of honour.
Postiga would be a great signing.
Defoe would be better than Keane.
We'd escape the relegation zone by game 10 in 2008/09.
Ramos would be a great manager.
Ziegler would be a great player.
Hoddle would be a great manager.
(Years and years ago) that VDV wasn't that good.
We'd get CL again.
Woodgate would be a poor signing.

Right:

Bentley would be a poor signing.
Giovani would be a poor signing.
Mido should not have been signed after his loan.
Modric would be great in the middle.
Bale would be great on the wing.
Carrick would be great for us.
Berbatov would be great for us.

I won money off a mate because I knew:

a) We'd finish below Man City last season

b) We'd finish above Liverpool.

I also said we'd beat AC Milan and lose to Madrid when everyone else I knew was saying we'd never beat Milan over 2 legs but we could take Madrid.

I've never bet against Spurs to lose. 1-1 with Adam first goal scorer was obvious.

If you'd seen the devastation on my face walking out of the Park Lane at the end of the game a £1000 win wouldn't have made a slight bit of difference

Ok, let's see....

Wrong

I thought Beckham would sign on loan last January a'la the Milan loans
I thought Harry would faulter sooner than he did and would only really serve us well in the relegation fight of the first season.
I thought Keane would refind his form at Spam.
I thought Sandro would take at least a season to get used to the game and find his form.
I honestly thought we would get top four this year.

right

I thought sacking Jol was a mistake as prior to Sevilla Ramos had achieved fuck all in his career and hadn't lasted more than a season anywhere else.
I thought Harry would faulter somewhat after the first two seasons.
I felt that signing Crouch and Defoe were not strong enough for our aspirations.
I though Harry's tendency to favour Defoe for starts this year would cost us.
I thought George Graham would be treated like shit and forced out the door by Enic.
I thought that Levy would put money haggling before a replacement over the Berbativ transfer.
I knew we would get past Milan.

Humm I tend to get almost everything I bother to predict right (though that's mainly because I don't like making predictions unless I know the matter inside out) ... but the most pleasing was:

-Birmingham to beat Arsenal in the CC

One thing I was wrong about was Bentley - I thought he was cocky and arrogant, which was the sort of player we needed, someone who could play well even when everything was going wrong overall... in reality he was far more fragile and susceptible to form and criticism.

Also I was wrong about Rebrov at West Ham, I thought he'd be astonishingly good in the championship.

And I turned out to be wrong about Ryan Giggs - I thought taking out a superinjunction was a bad idea!

Wrong:

I thought Bentley would be a success
I thought Gomes had moved on past making errors
I thought Mido would do really well for us
I thought Lennon would storm the World Cup if given a chance
I thought Gallas would be a disaster

Right:

I knew we'd finish 5th
I knew we'd be out of both cups in the first couple of rounds
I knew Harry wouldn't rotate the squad and so players would leave
I knew we wouldn't sign a striker in the last two windows
I knew we'd get screwed out of the OS
I knew Bent would be successful elsewhere

Loads of other stuff both right and wrong but that's off the top of my head.

I was convinced Paul Robinson would be our goalkeeper for 10 years...

Right
That Defoe and Crouch would be our forward line within 12 months of Harry's appointment

No, because what I mean is that while I expected there to be a dip after around two years I didn't expect it to come as late in the season as it did, especially after the highs of CL football, which I never though he was capable of attaining.

That clarification acceptable? Or should we look to pick holes in it?

What's your list?

Wrong

I thought we'd be okay when Carrick left because we were getting Zokora. Good lord he proved me wrong.

Right

I said that Palacios would save our season when we signed him.
