Glory was what I witnessed in the early 60s. Nothing has really come close to those days at WHL since.

Combination of players and manager was supreme.

Beating people. Beating teams. In to the ground. Burying them. Not necessarily by huge goal margins, but by overall play, out-passing, out-moving, which generally leads to an inevitable out-scoring.

The biggest Glory Glory night I've had is probably the 5-1 - which had it all. Our fiercest opposition, our biggest task in recent years, and our best all round performance.

*swoon*

Beating is the wrong word to use in my opinion because to beat someone or a team conjures up images of excessive aggression and physically beating the opponent into submission.

Glory to me is when talking about Spurs is how we should always do things with class, style, panache and a respect for everything that has come before us. We have had flirtations with glory recently but, until something like the 60's and the double winning team comes around again we will always flirt with glory but, it will always just be tantalisingly out of reach.

However that is what makes us different from other fans and teams. Where they just want to win we on the other hand want to do it with all the glory that will bring a new generation of spurs fans to continue on the history and tradition of our great club.

One thing I will say is I am not sure I will see the sort of glory Bill Nicholson was talking about in that quote in my life time but, what keeps me going is the hope that one day my eyes will see the glory.

Yupp, agree with how many of you have defined it, and how the strive for glory truly is a part of Tottenham Hotspur FC. As being shown by the excellent quotes from Sir Bill Nicholson and Danny Blanchflower.

Makes me so proud to be a supporter of this club! A club that actually looks to play football and wants to do it honorably (why I despise anyone who on a regular basis tries to bully or cheat advantages for themselves) and in style.

Glory is about entertainment - last minute goals, drama, flowing football, occasional screw-ups.

It is NOT about winning. That's left to the Man Utd etc of this world.

Glory is the journey. In the context of football it is about sportsmanship, style and entertainment. It could never be just about winning.

If glory were about winning, then george graham's arsenal, mourinho's chelsea and our 1999 cup win could be described as glorious.

Holland's national team has an echo of glory about it and all they have ever won is the European Championship.

glory is overcoming the odds and succeeding, its reaching the goal you have set yourself or been set by others, its about being better than the others and mainly its about beating the arse

Hmmmmmm, glory, eh?

For me, it's something that secures praise or renown; for achievements with style and a little swagger; an acceptance by your peers for true excellence.

And probably a lot more, besides.....

I don't believe glory or winning are everything when it comes to life or football. But I do think glory is winning. Sometimes glory and winning are over rated. Style and honour are probably more worthy and can be just as enjoyable. But I guess winning with style and honour has to be the ultimate.
