Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Tottenham only 17 months after replacing Mauricio Pochettino; Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will now try to take the club in a different direction but who could be next? And what are the issues to address?

Not many options available at the moment.

Nagelsman or Bielsa are good options. However, i am not sure levy will enjoy his morning breakfast with bielsa in the staff canteen when he has to speak through a translator.

So if Poch wins the CL with PSG can we get him back? Well you can only hope but going back to an old job is usually a big mistake

He won't, so we can't and even if he did, we wouldn't.
I think it really is time to say farewell to Poch, for the sake of mental balance.

I think it is pretty much set up for pochettino to return.
The fans have short memories and would love it.
Levy is in even more in debt to the man, as our unlikely run to the CL final was likely to have been a factor in our inclusion in the super league. £££
He was Lewis' choice to begin with.

I don't think it's Poch at all......he's at PSG where he can spend unheard of amounts of money for the first time in his career. Surely he'll want to test himself with similar resources to the other heavyweights and show what he can do if properly backed. Speaking of being backed, he knows nothing has changed at Spurs, so why would he come back now?

If, as rumoured, we are already talking to the new manager about signings for next year, then the likely candidates are either Naglesmann, Alegri or Parker. JN is already known to be moving to another club (us or Bayern), and Parker will likely be available no matter if Fulham go down or not. Alegri is obviously without a club and free to talk to anyone he wants. I don't see anyone else readily available to talk with us without us talking to their current club about compensation.

Yeah Poch aint coming back. I don't know why we have the obsession with this. Every possibility he's going to win the CL this term with a team he's only just joined. Not happening.

Let's look forward, not back. Id like to see a DOF or at the very least, a rebirth of out total football ops before we even think about the next coach.

What next for Daniel Levy?

Well ......

After his determined obsession to leverage world footballs biggest 'sustainable' debt on us as fans whilst delivering an incredibly average product....

Combined with embarrassing us with furloughing his staff when we needed businesses like his to stand up...

Together with being 1 of 6 people systematically trying to remove the competitive element from the greatest sport on earth....

I would hope he and Joe will take their money and fuck off.

The key question is whether Levy pulled the trigger because he was confident he had his man (Nagelsmann) in the bag, or whether he did it bacause things had got so bad with Mourinho he had no choice. With my Spurs hat on, I just know it's the latter but have a forlorn hope it was the former.

Yeah, don't forget Jose's protest against the Super League.

Yeah, don't forget Jose's protest against the Super League.

Would be interesting to see Mourinho's response if one of the ESL teams offered him a job. I think it was mainly a classic Mourinho deflection tactic.

It shouldn’t be about a change of management but a change of owners. With the replacement of Pochettino with Mourinho and its predictable aftermath Levy has finally disproved the myth he is some kind of footballing genius.

Levy and Lewis’s decision to back the Superleague is unforgivable. But I think the moneymen may have overreached themselves this time.

Various governments have threatened to intervene to have a more German-style fan-based share structure. Now it could really happen. Badger your MP by email or in person now. I don’t like this government but the good thing about having a populist government is they will worry when an issue is this unpopular. If they find it’s an issue which resonates in the Red Wall seats and beyond they will act.

And when Harry Kane realises he may not be captaining England this summer I think he’s going to act too. I hope the players from both sides have the courage to make some kind of protest on Saturday.

It mentions a discussion between Paul Merson and Tim Sherwood. How desperate are Sky? Talk about the bottom of the barrel. Scott Parker is too inexperienced and taking a manager just relegated is unwise. The thought of Steven Gerrard fills me with dread. In the extremely improbable event of him doing ok he would leave for Liverpool at the first chance. Don’t like him and don’t want him.

Southgate being linked. Please NO
I do remember that Levy was keen on him but I also agree with another poster that his lack of immediate availability would seem to nix that.

I’d personally like the Lille manager, Christophe Galtier, he’s built an exciting attacking team.

It's good if the club is casting the net wide and not necessarily focusing on the obvious targets. His career does seem somewhat of a mixed bag but one of the most important aspects of any appointment will presumably be philosophy. Daniel Levy has no excuse - he has no reason not to be looking for someone who is known for playing attacking football.
