They're there because we helped put them there. They are not in the bottom few just because of our result, but others also.
Nope, they couldn't handle the thought of losing to Harry Kane's team without Harry Kane, that it broke them mentally

Yes they did but that doesn’t change the fact that some teams didn’t try very hard against them while having a real go against us. It’s just human nature. Less successful teams wanted Leicester to win the title because they saw them as one of theirs getting one over the big boys.
It's not a fact

  • Has there ever been a club more overrated over their first 10 games than this lot?
  • We really did nothing special against them, it was a very even game at our ground. Tiresome narrative. I’m sorry but you can’t look past the table after 10 games.
  • Granted it is a derby. But had Jesus not overhit his shot & Nketiah squared it to a free Vieira, Sp**s would have no way to come back into the match. They've had a great start but have yet to be properly tested.
  • What is a proper test if not away to super squad Arsenal? You can find excuses, errors and missed chances in every game btw. It was a very even game by all metrics
  • Romero is a great defender, if not so good on the ball, Van de Ven looks class on and off the ball. Pedro Porro is good, whilst I rate Destiny Udogie who is only 19 or 20 and looks very comfortable already (a bit like saliba on entering the PL). They have Bissouma who we know is very good, Sarr who is also very young, talented with a massive engine. And their most talented midifielder in Bentancur is just coming back. I think up front they probably need upgrades, Kulu and Richarlison could probably be upgraded on, in adddition to getting another striker. Like us in the past, they drop off considerably outside their first 11
  • That's great but on paper it's not what I'd call a top 4 looking side at all. Screams mid table to me. Again entering this season I wouldn't have any of them here. Could've made a case for Bissouma who I'd forgotten about but that would've only been based on his Brighton level.
  • That’s because Udogie, Sarr, Vicario and Van De Ven haven’t played in the PL and are still young and developing. Whilst guys like Porro looked **** as they had conte stinking it up. They look very good players, definitely top 4 level. Vicario was rated by many as the best keeper in serie A last yr, whilst Udogie was close to the best wing back as a 19 year old. Not household names as yet but they are very talented
  • Fair enough. Still a top 10 side for me on paper and I give Ange all the credit for them overperfoming at the moment.
  • Last thing I’ll say is they are likely to add quality depth in January, and unlike us are not restricted by FFP after the Kane deal.
  • Hate to break it to you, but you do realise they signed VDV, Porro, Johnson, Vacario, Maddison etc, they also had to make the Kulusevski deal permanent.
    The Kane money is gone.
  • They’ll qualify for UCL probably but they’ve had the softest schedule in the league and are just barely scraping through almost every match. It’s only a matter of time before the bubble bursts.
  • Everyone was saying that about us last yr. And whilst it eventually happened for us, and probably will for Sp**s also, it might take longer than anticipated.
  • We didn’t have a butter-soft schedule and weren’t scraping out every game in the last minute or though reffing blunders. People said we’d fall off just because they weren’t used to us being at the top of the table, not because the quality of football wasn’t up to snuff.
  • Made a good appointment and they’re doing much better than expected credit to them, however their inevitable fall from grace is going to be very fun to watch. Dead cert for top 4 imo but think we’ll finally be able to end the suffering of having to hear this clubs name in the title discussion by around December/January.
  • I would trade Gaffers with them in a split second and throw in Kai the non scoring, non midfielder for free; if they promise never to give either back. I mean don’t all rich couples want to settle down in posh west London? Mik and Kai with the money they robbed from Arsenal could get a nice Mayfair flat together.

Nice to see today Le Arse mixing it up a bit and bottling the league before Christmas rather than after.

From the comments section of the Guardian's report on the Arsenal match:

Very Awful Referee. Totally dispiriting when that level of incompetence ruins a game. Bruno Gimersmash should have been off for obvious violent conduct and the VAR don’t step in. Absolute dogs cock. Otherwise the actual blood and thunder old school stuff was great but just needed a ref with two eyes that were operational - and yes Havertz could have gone too

 ( Gimersmash :ROFLMAO:)

They really believe this don't they? It's held them up over this difficult period but according to Opta in The Times yesterday it's Arsenal themselves that have had the easiest opening 10 fixtures.

All this talk of soft starts and conspiracies, it's quite interesting when you look at this because none of the other current top four have anything like the swing in difficulty that we have. To go from 7 to 17, a swing of 10, in the next ten is insane when you see that the other three have swings of 2, 5 and 6 - and the 6 is downwards!

It also underlines what a ridiculous argument it is but fans this season seem to have become fixated on it - especially with regard to us.

A bit of cod-psychology here, but I reckon most fans understand a team's success and failure goes in waves and that (Man City excepted) the other 5 or 6 Champions League hopefuls kind of almost take it in turns to have spells in and out of the competition, maybe 3 or 4 years in each. There's a belief that we never deserved to be in it to start with because warra trophy, but that having sold Kane we definitely should be about to begin a decade in the wilderness and that order will be restored.

But we're not. And they're not happy, so there must be reasons.

So going by that our last 20 games should be substantially easier than our first 20, and the opposite applies to the other 3 teams , moreso City and Arsenal?

Going by the way this theory goes was Brentford away now a tough game? They were considered shit a few weeks ago but beat Chelsea away and West Ham at home. Doesn't it make it a tough game now?

It's just one of many variables that make up a season. You can be lucky and play teams with key players out through injury/suspension, or you can go a whole season playing everyone virtually at full strength. Form goes up and down too and relegation strugglers suddenly become tough games when they're fighting for their lives. It depends when you come up against them. There's a whole load of luck involved in winning anything but clubs like Man City mitigate it with top quality squad depth.
