  • Spurs have really hit the mark with Van De Ben, Udogie, Maddison and Sarr along with Bissouma coming back in.

I think rival fans see us as a bit of a banter team. We havent won stuff in ages and the top teams who felt a bit threatened by us over recent years started to hate on us and make jokes. That has given us a reputation that fans of other clubs have now jumped on and try to use against us. So teams who arent even in the top 4 picture start to banter/see us in the same light as a City/Liverpool fan does. Its weird and means they dont even have any self awareness of their own clubs status or quality.

The football was terrible, we all know that but it’s not like we were Chelsea. We finished eighth and one win off sixth. Us finishing where we did is being massively over played by a lot of people.

From our fans perspective it was the quality of the football that made us think we were so bad but that was on the manager. Don’t tell all the other PL clubs but we honestly aren’t that far off. It’s what makes the lack of impetus in investment of players in key areas this summer so frustrating.

I wouldn't classify bringing in Vicario, VdV, Udogie, Maddison and Solomon as lack of investment. We could do with a couple more but ITK seem pretty confident.

I like and loathe this thread in equal measure.

I like to read balanced views from opposition fans. I loathe the fact that some of the other mouth-breathing dunces are free to populate the country…

I’m kind of the other way round. It’s the nutters that make it fun!

  • Bissouma for Spuds. Totally underused by Conte last year
  • Maddison - such a good buy
  • Hate to say but the c**** look decent under Ange
  • Spurs fans will be wondering they they are 'sitting back'.
The Fighting Cock will be in overdrive.
  • Two nice goals.
  • It’s heartbreaking to see how well Spurs are doing without Kane. Was hoping they would fall apart and finish bottom half but looks like they will be aiming for top 4-6 at this rate!
  • Weird isnt it? I reckon we might be the same without Declan, actually better for him leaving….
  • Some people are going way overboard about Spurs. You can't have a team full of absolute pricks and expect harmony over a season. Something will give. I'm not having them, personally
  • Unfortunately I reckon they got their manager appointment spot on, and my yearly ritual laughing at spuds will be put on the shelf for a few years
  • We're 3 games in. There were articles being written about Spurs after 10 games of last season suggesting a title challenge. They went on to sack 2 managers
  • Bournemouth look awful they're making spurs look good
  • This Bournemouth team are lacking quality almost all over the pitch
  • Looks like they're going to have to share the title in North London this season..
  • This is Tottenham's year
    :crossed:
I was very jealous of west ham's success last season, but "yearly ritual laughing at spuds", come off it. Most seasons, west ham are an absolute joke

Really nice to see other fans hating on us in a weird way and not just laughing.

Enjoy nothing more than reading them say things like “we’ll smash this team”, “Bournemouth are woeful, making Spurs look good” etc…

They are all clearly concerned. COYS

I think we will go through a temporary period of being the media darling followed swiftly by everyone hating us once again. I suppose it's better than them not needing to care about us as we were of no concern to them all last season.

Up The Cherries started a Maddison thread after he posted the below photo on Instagram with the words 'Happy Saturdays from me and the old boy in Row E'.

:ROFLMAO:

There's a bit of nonsense in it, but, largely, it's positive and the OP treats the banter in the way it was intended...

Whether they are the opposition or not, I always prefer to see players playing with a smile on their face, and joining in a bit of banter with fans. There was the 'wind-up' when placing the ball outside the corner quadrant, and I've just seen this... It's obviously a lot easier to be like this when you've won, but we ask for personalities, let's not get rattled when they show they've got one.

To be fair, the corner thing was really funny.

Kind of player you love if he plays for you and hate if it’s the opponent.

Whatever you think of him, he ran the ‘show’ yesterday.

Loved his reaction to our crowd giving him stick. especially at the corner flag. Sure he was in the ref's face all game long but the refs have the instant answer, a yellow card.

Superb player/performance tbh. Slippery as an eel. Incredibly agile, ability to twist and turn/change direction in tight spaces. Was always going to be nothing short of a miracle containing him with our defensive midfield personnel yesterday. Money well spent.

I've never been that impressed by him when he faced us in a Leicester shirt but yesterday made me understand the hype. MOTD also highlighted how he was key in negating our high press.

Up the Cherries
  • Postecoglu used to ply his trade in Australian football.
If we can't beat these ****s, we need our heads read.
  • We will beat spurs on Saturday, a good benchmark team to play, a shame it’s not ten games in, when we are much more settled as a team but I’m still confident, they’re just the best of the rest
  • We are playing Spuds, not Man City. Or are you just making sweeping statements with no real substance? Spuds are in rebuild mode. They have lost Kane and LLoris and have a new manager. They are learning as they go, as are we. This is a great time to play them. Their 'quality' players like Son and Kulusevski are not in good form. The rest of the team looks pretty ordinary, to be fair. They are not the Spuds of even two years ago
  • was about to say that Bournemouth were playing very solid at the back, then Spurs opened them up
  • Good goal tbf but why no one is tracking Maddison is baffling
  • They seem to be able to stroll through our midfield
  • Watching TNT , All they talk about is Spuds. then go quite when we attack.
  • Spurs playing for time already...falling over all the time..we have got them worried ....................
  • Christ a spurs player only has to fall over to get a free kick.....
  • Spurs look much the better side
  • Commentators are going on like Spurs are Man City.....they are not that great imo......we could still get something out of this.
  • Good goal that
  • Just as I was gonna say we are looking better, that happens.
  • We've made Spurs look very good this half. We are playing as if we have 10 men
  • Well this is pretty awful!
  • I don't like f√cking losing at Home to f√cking Spurs.. do you ?
  • We've made Spurs look very good this half. We are playing as if we have 10 men
Are we going to hear this for all 38 league games this season?

It's been the go to excuse for years already, I doubt that changes any time soon.

It will never be "This spurs side look incredible" it will always be "insert useless excuse for our team being shit instead of spurs being great here"

We used to get it under Pochettino too. And even tho we were fitter and kept running till the 90 odd minute and scored loads of goals after 80 mins, we were ALWAYS lucky...

I have a lot of liverpool mates so I don't enjoy it when they win but because it was against Newcastle, that was actually a satisfying result. Might bring Newcastle fans back down to earth a bit.

It’s like when you beat someone at a racket sport, let’s take tennis and your opponent after the match comes over and mutters “that’s the worst I’ve ever played Aka I made you look good” instead of having the grace in defeat to just admit that they were well beaten by a better opponent.

Im loving how bitter the oppo fans are and how much they’re underestimating us so far, as others have said it’s usually when we are at our most dangerous, as soon as people expect us to do well we muck it up 🤣😅 under the radar suits us just fine 😊

Dear oh dear what a season this is gonna be! Newcastle wasteful, Liverpool resilient, Man City unimpressive, Man United rudderless, Arsenal lethargic, as a Hammer I’m starting to believe this could be our season!?
