An egregious and objectively funny mistake? Absolutely.

Corruption? Only in the minds of salty scousers.

Concise and standardised language amongst officials would likely prevent any future occurrences of this nature.

Arsenal fans seem as angry as Liverpool fans on social media. To the point they're calling up Talksport demanding the game should be replayed and if we were classy like them in 1999 against Shef Utd we'd agree to that!?!

Stupid fucknuggets, the lot of them. Gooners are getting twitchy because we're not as bad as we were last year and sit with them at the top end of the table.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this for us in their eyes. For years I’ve heard that once Kane leaves we’d be midtable and lost.

100% they’re annoyed because after 6yrs they finally finished above us and (understandably) thought/hoped we’d be utter shite this season with losing Kane.
the fact we aren’t and look to be playing exciting progressive football with a manager who has only been here months is scaring the shit out of them.
They have “trusted the process” for 4 (5??) seasons now, to see us implement a new way of playing so quickly goes against what they’ve had to believe.
“Wait until they play someone decent”
Well we’ve played them, Man U and Lpool and come out with 7 points.
The media have tipped them to win the league this season so it’s gone to their head. They can’t comprehend seeing us going toe to toe with them and other “Big” teams as it wasn’t in the script.

It's like some parallel universe reading those comments. It's gaslighting of the absolute highest order. So because there are pauses while they think about it that must be because its been edited out. What are they thinking got edited out? "Ahh it's only Liverpool don't worry" or "we got them".

The issue I thought was they were so quick to look back at the offside they missed the flag had been raised and offside was given. They said check complete which got passed on. That meant the on field decision was given. They then realise the game was resumed at 0-0 and there's confusion for a bit. They wanted to delay but because it had resumed they have to let it continue. They shouldn't say "check complete" without clearly stating what the decision is. Then just tell the ref "onside goal is good" or similar. The ref doesn't even need to hear "check complete" his end, he just needs to hear the decision made.

They seem to forget that the Sheff Utd replay was down to Arsenal’s mistake (Kanu) whereas this incident is down to the officials. Absolutely no way will this game be replayed.

I could just about understand calls for a replay if the Diaz incident had happened in the 96th minute and was the last kick of the game to win or draw it. The fact it happened in the 34th minute and they had 10 then 9 men for an hour altogether away at Spurs….. they just need to let it go. Be really angry about it sure, but stop the conspiracy talk and just accept the fuck up like everyone else has to when it happens to them.

What gets me is that if you were going to be corrupt you wouldn’t do it this way in a million years. Corruption or bias is much more likely in the assessment of debatable calls. So for instance by my count spurs have had 6 debatable penalty shouts for and against this season - Sonny at Brentford plus the Romero handballs against United and arsenal at the defensive end, Romero against United, maddison and Kulu against Sheffield United at the attacking end - and we’ve got one in our favour. Is that corruption, bias, or bad luck? Since I don’t have any tin foil to hand, I’ll go with bad luck.

Hubcap salesman: "SKY & Talkshite have pushed an anti Liverpool agenda for decades"

SC'er: The media have an agenda against Spurs, they love Liverpool/United etc

What a load of bollocks. Both ways. The worst of it is that the disciples of the media agenda actually believe it :D
Whilst generally I agree with you, and I don't think there is a deliberate intent, but it is noticable that the vast majority of match officials seem to come from the North West (particularly in and around Manchester). Whether this causes a deliberate bias or intent is unlikely, but there may well be an unconcious bias there - which is something that is hard to counter as often it can end up being over compensated.

Hopefully the smarter heads at the top of the club will use it as a way to spearhead change and improve the way VAR is implemented, rather than join a lot of the fans off the deep end. Saw they were using the newer offside system in the CL and it is so much better, ridiculous that the clubs voted against using it really.

My personal opinion on scousers angst ...

Fucking glorious 🤣
I just wish it had been more controversial like the ref headed it in and run up the pitch waving his shirt over he's head but then of course booked himself for it. 👌

Been saying this for years about referees, basically there are no officials who come from the south of England (I think all north of the Midlands). How this situation has been allowed to persist for so long is beyond me, the county associations from up North clearly have to much power and influence, and there are plenty of referees down south (they cannot be any worse than those up North). You are also bang on about unconscious bias, another thing I have been saying for a long time. About 18 months ago I posted a map on here of the referee birth places about 18 months ago - and I noticed someone else do the same more recently (updated I assume). Strangely this potential issue never seems to get raised in the media, to the ongoing benefit of northern clubs.

Why Arsenal are getting so upset about the decision in the Liverpool game is highly predicable and somewhat tedious. Remember the outcry after their game against Man City last season, them are Liverpool are two cheeks of the same arse - arrogant cry babies with an overwhelming sense of self-entitlement. Arsenal fans easily forget all the generous decisions they have received over many seasons, and lose it when something goes against them - just like Liverpool fans.

In recent weeks I have been enjoying much banter at work with the deluded Gooners. They are clearly not happy, I would say maybe jealous and / or worried.

RAWK
  • If we lose the league by a point, I swear...
This always makes me laugh, it’s not something to worry about, they were 22pts and an extra 33 goals behind City last season

You could give them an extra point in every season for the last 30yrs and it wouldn’t make them win any extra league titles

I think the other thing that worries the Gooners is that in one window we have brought down the average age of our starting eleven dramatically. They have been banging on about how they are not only challenging but doing it with one of the youngest teams in the league. Suddenly with Vicario, VDV, Udogie, Sarr and Johnson we now have a starting 11 with almost exactly the same average age as Arsenal's at around 24.

Clearly the one of the Assistant VARs was counting out loud the suitcase full of money that had just been wheeled in by Abu Dhabi after play was restarted, while the other was talking about what spec he wanted on his new Bugatti.

I think you give them far too much credit to even recognise that 😂

It also means they all have weird accents and can't understand each other
