  • These teams love to pack their box against us but play so open against Sp*rs.
  • Vicario starting to really piss me off with these saves.
  • NGL, Sp**s are looking good
  • Crest of a wave, played all the bottom clubs. Their level will show itself soon enough.
  • Sp**s are class. Been enjoying watching them this season
  • Tottenham aren’t all that, unless they’re struggling today without Bissouma? Son is only good for finishing chances and their entire creativity is based on Maddison. Udogie looks interesting though.
  • This Vicario guy, I miss Lloris
  • Van de Ven is a brilliant find, underrated
  • Jeez Anthony Taylor is whistle happy in the scums favour tonight? :cautious:
  • Thank god Richarlison is still a donkey
  • Unfortunately they have Son
  • Not watching the match but it's on in the background. FFS, every time I look up they're about to score. Oh, there you go- finally
  • Quality finish
  • Cooor Sonaldo
  • Son is unstoppable from these kind of ranges man
  • The league leaders score
  • This should be 4-0 by now
  • So we drew to these guys, did we?
  • Yes we did and my god it was an embarrassing result against a ****e small side. We also drew with Fulham, which wasn't great either.
  • Son's finishing is ridiculous
  • Sp**s giving me Arsenal last year vibes.. when will they face a good team!!!
  • Having a striker that can shoot is such a weapon
  • Iwobi can't be worse than this version of willian (must've been watching a different Willian to me)
  • Sp**s two points clear at the top of the table. When are we going to start taking them seriously? People scoffed at us last season but you know how that ended
  • Sp**s are looking good tbf.
  • As a football fan you end up wanting this lot to win the league this time. The extent of Arteta's crimes.
  • Strange thing for an 'Arsenal fan' to say. Speak for yourself, I want them to go into administration myself.
  • I think the things they do better than us is there fullbacks make inwards runs and their wide forward play more centrally.
  • Sp**s are fully reliant on Son scoring their goals. If he picks up an injury they will slide down the table quicker than a cheap hooker
  • Ffs Udogie is quality.
  • they've won a rumbelows cup since the invention of the internet mate, don't be fooled by a kind run of fixtures and decisions.
  • I think Fulham will equalise, Sp**s have had a billion chances and not got the second.
  • They could very well as Sp**s are wide open, Fulham have just messed up the final ball about 50 times.
  • If Fulham lose by 2 they will do well. Expect Sp**s to get 2-3 more
  • Interesting that they don't really miss Bissouma, it's mostly Madisson and Udogie who keep them ticking.
  • I feel sick looking at how well Sp**s are playing. I will banish football forever if the unthinkable happens.
  • Look at the teams they've played so far and compare to us.
  • Get nervous with Sp*rs everytime they go on the counter, then they pass it to Richarlison and I immidiately relax.
  • Brazil used to be the envy of the football world. Now they have Jesus and Richarlson. What a fall
  • They create so many chance compare to us atm
  • They don’t have a weirdo who is over complicating things who is desperate to show how smart he is
  • Maddison. Top player and quality signing.
  • And we bought Havertz...
  • Fulham were world beaters against us and now have bent down for Chavs and Sp**s. What a rubbish team. They can fck off
  • Bassey 2-0 Fulham
  • Bassey should be investigated for betting pattern! The prickk
  • Really costly 4 points we dropped vs these 2 teams at home
  • Sp**s conceding zero chances and playing free flowing football. If only…
  • Weird, Ange hasn't needed 8 transfer windows.
  • When will they lost a game? Can't see Chelsea beating them and they have Pep's number for some reason. Hope they get that defeat before we do
  • Ødegaard is our version of Maddison
  • Nah you’ve got to rate the job that Ange is doing there. They look completely different to last season and Son is playing like he’s rejuvenated in this central role. Deserves big credit.
  • I swear for such an attack minded coach, Ange loves subbing off almost all his attackers at the end of games regardless of score. Did it against us at 2-2 killing the chance of getting any more than a point.
  • They're are playing with absolute no pressure and just enjoying themselves out there. That can be hard to stop imo
  • I’ve seen enough anyways, Sp**s attack is better than ours as it stands and I think I prefer their fullbacks this season, Porro and Udogie are looking good.
  • Sp**s crowned champions tonight by the media. We'll see where they're after Christmas
  • Similarities between us last season and Sp**s this. There is an energy and togetherness about them.
  • Sp**s are playing again on Friday against Palace? That's 5points clear then.
  • A slightly better team would've definitely punished Sp*rs here.
  • See how Ange gave the ball to the Fulham player? Arteta would have done some bullshit and got shoved over by the frustrated player. Nice guy managers
  • Who is this Vicario guy btw, he's been excellent for them this season. Wish they got Raya
  • At least their subs look fairly bad.
  • They look like us last season. New signings flying, attacking football. All down the toilet after one or two subs. I don’t see a title charge for them though but probably top 4. Their squad just too thin to be a real threat, but Ange seems willing to sub his guys once the result is secure rather than run them into the ground.
  • High energy, players battling for eachother, suffocating opponents, fans on side. I do think we had a better 11 which is why i think they will fade away a bit, thankfully. I hate that Arteta has swayed away from this kind of fast paced, high energy football that gave us so much joy last season.
  • Really don’t think Sp**s are looking like anything special. But how we lost points to Fulham is a total disgrace, how do you actually not steamroll this pathetic excuse of a premier league club?
  • I agree. I have been more impressed with Villa and Newcastle, despite Sp**s' false position.
  • They have that Kane money to spend in January.
  • The season is long. Sp**s will finish 5th and barely make CL.
  • No manager in PL history has done as well as Angie after 9 games in his first season. Impressive
  • I saw that but it’s a nonsense stat considering he’s been sh*tting on relegation candidates back to back.
  • If you consider Arsenal, Liverpool and Man U relegation candidates
  • Beat Liverpool, United and drew Arsenal away. Could easily beaten us as well
  • They could easily have lost 4/9 of their games so far. They have a tough run coming up now too, and will lose 3 of their next 7.
  • Could more easily have lost to us and Liverpool. Utd don't count.
  • Saw a "strength of schedule" table that ranks teams based on the winning percentage of all the teams they've played and Sp**s were at the bottom. Their opponents had a combined 44% win rate.

  • Sp**s crowned champions tonight by the media. We'll see where they're after Christmas
Ah yes - I forgot "just after Christmas" is the traditional time Arsenal fans crown the champions.

Ok.

Spurs:

Brentford A
Man Utd H
Bournemouth A
Burnley A
Sheff Utd H
Arsenal A
Liverpool H
Luton A
Fulham H

Arsenal:

Forest H
Palace A
Fulham H
Man Utd H
Everton A
Spurs H
Bournemouth A
Man City H

I mean, it’s not that different in terms of quality of opposition played is it. We’ve played all 3 promoted teams and Arsenal haven’t played any yet, but we’ve also played 3 out of last season’s top 5 and they’ve played 2. They’ve also played 5 home matches to our 4.

Anyway, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Martin Keown is very similar to a monkey in looks and speech. It may be completely irrelevant to the point I’m making in this post but it’s always worth remembering.
And speech:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

  • Outclassed, but could have been 2-2
  • Actually agree. We had the better clear cut chances
  • been completely outclassed tonight, I don’t think Fulham would score if Spurs decided to play on without a keeper, that’s how poor Fulham have been, absolutely clueless in front of goal
  • Spurs we’re on the front foot most of the game but Jimenez and Wilson missed two sitters
  • Think if we didn’t gifted them two goals, we would have half a chance to get a draw or even a result. We had more open chances than they did. We countered and played through their midfield many times. We were too negative in the first half, and when we picked up some momentum in the second half, Bassey mess up again. Otherwise Spurs did not have a chance in the second half!
  • we were playing away to a Spurs team, who are unbeaten in the league this season, and we actually played pretty well, and had we been playing any team outside the top 6, we would have been comfortable winners. Let's get real, if we had a 200m forward line like Spurs, we would win more games.
  • spurs were better than us
  • The lads are playing well against one this season's title contenders.

So if we are top after 19 games, have we still not played “anyone”?
I think it's fair to say our fixtures have been relatively (not super) kind. It's also an obvious point that, the longer time goes by, the less that argument washes.

The other valid observation that gets used is the depth of our squad - there's no denying the drop off after Maddison (Lo Celso), Bissouma (PEH), Romero (God knows), VDV (see Romero comment), Udogie (Davies, Sess?) and Vicario (errr) we're not nearly as strong. I'd make the same comment, albeit to a lesser extent to Son (Richi) and Porro (Emerson). That's 8 of the first team. Outside of wing and CM, we're lacking back ups. So injuries, suspensions and absences (AFCON etc.) are a big concern.

But it's also worth considering that, in some respects, we're still finding our feet. I'd fancy two of Johnson, Gil, Deki, Solomon (when fit) or Richi to start making a proper claim for those wide spots. I reckon our defence will get increasingly comfortable. You have to assume the players will, over time, become more accustomed to Ange's system.

It's nice to see other Club's fans look for reasons as to why we'll slip up. They're only saying that because, thus far, we've barely missed a beat, even though there's LOADS of room for improvement. Dropping 4 points from 9 games is, make no bones about it, title winning form.

Will we win it? No. I'm totally comfortable with that. What we've is given ourselves a hell of a platform for the remaining 3/4 (or just over, but you know what I mean) of the season.

Keep players fit and available, maybe strengthen in a few areas in Jan, iron out some of the wrinkles in our attacking play, and we're absolutely cooking. Long may it continue.

And by the way, not that it's the thread for it, but the focus should be the league this year. A cup run would be nice, but this year should absolutely be about consolidating our position back in the CL. That doesn't mean throwing the towel in for the FA Cup, but we do need to consider player fitness.

This is something else completely made up in their heads. All I've heard from the media is we are some way off city and won't be challenging which very few if any is arguing with.

Yeah it's not spurs fans claiming title it's won. However it is what they did last season and after their bottle job it is clearly still hurting.

Hence why they are trying to put that narrative on spurs fans.

Very much appreciate their fans calling out what a weirdo Arteta is. Very gratifying.

The problem I have with the "strength" table is that it doesn't take into account current form.

You rather play city now, when undercooked, than later on in the season.

It's almost like it's utter bollocks, the sort of thing a 10 year old thinks of to argue with his mates in the playground.

It feels like we'll get to April and fans of other teams will still be saying we've had the easiest opening 30-odd games.

It's all bollocks anyway. If arsenal, city, Liverpool and us played united in their first 4, and they were bottom of the league, would people really be saying they would be the easiest game to play?

They could then win the next 4 and be up mid table and then it's all changed on how hard that team is to play.
