Villa Talk
  • Hopefully Palace can burst their bubble but not holding out much hope with Roy's approach
  • Spurs seem to have had the easiest run of fixtures ever, even when they got a difficult game like Liverpool they got luck from VAR error
  • F**k, Bentancur back on the bench. He's going to be ideal for how they play under Postacoglu. Was hoping he wouldn't re-emerge in the run up to our game
  • They have played Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal already. So seems to be an average mix of games so far?
  • Arsenal and Liverpool have yet to play any of the promoted teams home and away. Both will surely be above Spurs once that balances itself out.
  • Jammy bastards
  • Spurs now 7 points ahead of us
  • all credit to Spurs post Kane it's a remarkable first quarter of the season for them.
  • Got a horrible feeling that Liverpool 'goal' is going to be crucial.
  • Spurs have done incredible. Unbeaten after 10 games. 7 points above Villa.
  • You cannot say anything other than well done. 10 games in and unbeaten . 8 wins.
If we are judging ourselves as contenders for champs league then they seem to be one of the 5 we will have to finish in front of. And if we are judging ourselves on our form being the best we can remember in recent times then theirs is even better.
Luck has got nothing to do with it . Even if Liverpool had beaten Spurs they would be 4 points ahead of us .
Spurs are the real deal. And do not forget Ange is unbeaten in the league at home since he came to Celtic .
  • they've recruited well.
The Dutch CB, Udogie, Vicario and Maddison all look good signings and improvements on what they had previously
  • Spurs are less unlikeable now. Amazing what a nice guy as manager can do to perceptions.
  • Romero seems less rash aswell. Was constantly diving in last season and getting booked, now playing much calmer and gelled very well with Van Der Hoom.
I said pretty consistently last few months of last season Spurs were in a bit of denial with Kane and needed to cut the umbilical cord with him. No way would Maddison have made the impact he's had so far if Kane was still there dropping deep and picking up the ball in central positions so that has worked out well in terms of timing.
  • Talksport will be full of it tonight, running with the headline is this tottenhams year?

  • He is a good manager and has no doubt improved them, but for the media to start suggesting they are title challengers is utter drivel
  • They will probably do what Spurs do and bottle it.
Even my Spurs supporting mate said that they are the only team that could be 4 points clear going into the last game of the season and yet they would still find a way to finish 2nd
  • Spuds aren't responsible for who they play - they are only responsible for winning.

They've done a great job seeing as they lost their biggest player in the build up to the season (compare that with how we did when Jack left).
And while it's fair to argue about luck and weak opponents - winning breeds confidence and they have a very good manager. It would seem more likely to continue than not.

Loking forward to our game against them
  • Good luck to Spurs. All we have to do is take care of own results and not bother about other teams. Who is ahead at this stage doesn't matter. When we go there next month we are going to need to produce a really good performance.
Just goes to show that some football fans are capable of being objective.

I haven’t watched Bayern but wonder if he drops deep for them so much
Not really sure but I seen him feed Sane from deep for a couple of his goals much like he used do for Sonny.
Bayern have played 9 games and their goal difference is 27, that's not how many they've scored that's just the GD!

Don’t l why Villa fans talk shit. Yeah, I get it’s again another coping mechanism, but they’re in a somewhat similar situation, enjoying some great football guided by a very good coach. I don’t begrudge their success at all. Don’t see why they’d have a bone to pick with us.

  • Spurs win 2-1 with 1 shot on target. Keep thinking the luck will run out but no signs of it yet. With all the rest they are getting im genuinely getting a bit worried they could do this.
  • It’s not even November yet mate, wouldn’t worry about it. As Neville said they haven’t got the squad to do it. Arsenal were far more convincing than these last season and were a good 10 points ahead at one point
  • Arsenal had Arteta though. Postecoglou is a serial winner albeit in lesser leagues but he knows how to win. If I’m honest, my concern is that spurs will back him in January and he will get the additional 2 players, maybe 3 that he needs to kick on.
I’m not saying they’ll win the league but they’ve got a chance with this bloke.
  • On the subject of Spurs’ annoyingly good start to the season, I also remember people saying Leicester’s bubble would burst, that they didn’t have the depth of squad and they won’t be able to keep going.
    Just saying

what a hideous thing to suggest
  • I know, doesn’t bear thinking about.
Tottenham 5 points clear at top of Premier League
What kind of ****ed up world is this?
  • Harry Kane leaves, and they stage their best shot at a title in decades. Got to find a 'gloat' somewhere.
Today's home loss in an "easy" game just shows how fans need to focus on their own team's shortcomings, while recognising that putting winning runs together is not as easy as just turning up against "shit" teams.

"Spurs are lucky that...", seems to be a common theme in some of these other teams' fans threads.

We're lucky that sharks can't come on land, we're lucky that paving slabs don't scream with agony when stepped on and my mate Becky is lucky she wasn't born with wheels instead of legs as her career as a ballerina would've been a struggle.

Hypothetical realities don't mean shit, it's like the house of commons sometimes.

I’ve found it really interesting reading Newcastle fans’ discussions about their League Cup game with Man U. They’ve not won a trophy in over 50 years (and that was just the Fairs’ Cup) and have the strongest team/squad/manager they’ve had in years yet many of them are keen to field a really weak team and get out of the cup. They have multiple injuries all through the team and a host of games coming up.

Then some of the comments about us from other teams are saying “they’ve been lucky so far, they’re only playing one game a week etc”. Well news flash. That’s going to be the case for a while yet. Many of our challengers haven’t really seen the extra games bite…yet.

At the time we didn’t qualify for Europe and Villa snuck in my Villa wife was taking the piss but I told her I was well chuffed. I wasn’t all that fussed about losing the Fulham game either. Haven’t seen anything since to change my mind.

Team relies on players in their team to score goals.

What does he think happens?

Ange just tells them "Do you want lads and get the ball to Son and madders"

Arguments like this really highlight how some people know very little about the game, even if their whole existence is based on it.

Fulham's highlights of our game vs them came up on my YouTube feed the other day so popped it on.
Their commentator spent the whole time calling him Van Der Van...how can you be a commentator and get such a simple name wrong?
Happens all the time. Although he's not a commentator per se, the Waddler is always calling Romero "Romario".
Really gets on my tits!

What a weird day to post this. They won 3-0. Guess who contributed.

Also…

Player does what he's on the field to do and opposition fans are annoyed by it   Next they'll be crying that Vicario is actually bad for the game because he keeps preventing teams from scoring and in doing so, making it harder for teams to beat us, which can lead to hurt feelings.
