I live in Newcastle, the majority of Newcastle fans wanted Chelsea to win so we didn't get Champion's League and had to join Newcastle in the Europa League. Now there were a few that wanted Bayern to win but most wanted Chelsea to win!

The bar I work in had loads of different fans in and at least half were supporting Bayern until Robben missed the penalty and it all changed for some reason?

The funniest facebook status I saw was a Newcastle fan saying "Haha Spurs fans, unpack your suitcases!!" - I don't really understand this?

I would rather be hated than pitied, only small insignificant clubs are pitied.....so man- up everyone, take it on the chin, stick together and tell the world to FUCK OFF.....we will be fine.(y)

Surely the difference between a billionaire who owns a group that has invested in a club, and a billionaire who has bought a club and thrown hundreds of millions at it is self-evident?

[For the avoidance of any doubt, I prefer the Lewis scenario.]

obviously i prefer the Lewis scenario too, I am merely pointing out that in the past we have been the team to throw our weight around in the transfer market

On Redcafe, in the Spurs thread.

A Gooner twonk rears his drooling head and gets the smackdown from a United poster there:

Newcastle United - Season Opener

Bit early but just some views from their fans on having to face us in the 1st game of the season:

I f***ing knew we'd get someone like that for the first game. It's been the trend for about 6 years now!

Ah well, bring it on!

Two hard games to open the season but I would rather play the better sides early on before they get into there stride. Bit of a leveller with the easier games coming along later.

Spurs and Chelsea first two...fuuuuuck sake. We always get a nightmare start, hopefully we can pull a few surprises like the start of last season.

Its a hard start with spurs and chelsea but i still think we will be fine, if we can pick up any sort of points in those games i'll be pleased. We need to win the easier games if we want to try and replicate last season.

Well nobody can complain that we haven't played anyone after 13 games this time. Spurs, Chelsea, Man U, Everton, Liverpool, Villa and the Inbreds all to be faced in that time! Mingin'
Spurs and chelsea away is a very tough start especially with us playing our Europa league qualifier the thursday befor the chelsea game. Hopefully that isnt away somewhere far.

I like the fixture list. I think Spurs are in limbo at the moment, and having to travel all the way to Newcastle away on the first day of the season has to be one of the worst fixtures they could have wished for.

So Spurs first at home, hope nufc get revanche for that awful 5-0 defeat !

Spurs first and then Chelsea! Pretty hard start that like but you have to play these teams at some point (unless it was last season when we "hadn't played anyone yet").

did anyone hear an interview with levy from spuds today?? he was saying how happy he is that spuds have quite an easy start to the season with their 1st 6 games!!!

what an arrogant t**t!!!

hope we hammer the pricks

Tough first two games. African cup nations month looks ok.

We'll beat Tottenham, I agree with most of the experts that they'll return to their natural level of 9th-13th eventually, worst
thing they've ever done sacking Redknapp. AVB will be the biggest disaster you can see before it happens since, Dalglish was reappointed Liverpool manager.

VDV will leave, Bale is on record as saying Tottenham aren't big enough for him, Adebayor won't take the necessary pay cut, Modric is away, we'll come above Tottenham next year, and so we should.

Im quite confident we will get off to a solid enough start. Atm I can see us getting at least 3 points, could change I guess if we get rid of some of the stars and both Chelsea and Tottenham improve there squads dramatically. But at present I dont think we will be playing catch up that much, we tend to raise our games for the bigger sides to and hopefully Cisse will notch another against Chelsea

. Whatever happens its going to be an exciting start to the season and I for one cannot wait for the new season to start.

It's a tough start. I expect a tough season.

Spuds to start, eh ? We played them when we first came up under Keegan, didn't we ? Lost but had a great season. If we have a season like that one, we would have no complaints
With a bit of luck Spurs will get AVB as manager and he will be sitting in front of the dugout on the first day pretending to take a shit as Cisse rattles in a hatrick, because I can see loads of players leaving now uncle Harry has gone. Chelsea will then impload with Terry in prison, the Russian owner bringing in players that dont fit together and Di Matteo wont have the bottle to stand up to him
Reckon we can beat spuds opening day, as some of their top players will no doubt leave with redknapp gone and no CL football

Still the most deluded set of fans in the country then! That's about their only success in the last 50 years as a club isn't it?
