Where has this myth come from that we've got a weak defence? It might be the weakest part of a very strong team but Vertonghen + Kaboul are up their with the best partnerships in the league. Walker is one of the best young fullbacks in the league. Also it looks likely we will get Coentrao and even Rose isn't terrible.

I've heard loads of fans mention it.

Agreed. Everyone looks at Walker as a weakness on the team, but who would we replace him with?

Show me a RB who we have a chance to get who has as much talent and promise as Walker.

Agree that Walker could be a weakness in our defence.....

Is

Rose/Contraoe ------- Verts -------- Kaboul ------ Walker

or

Rose/Contraoe ----- Verts ------ Dawson ------- Kaboul

a better backline?

All hypothetical but all depends on Younes getting back into fitness and provide some competition/cover for Walker

Sorry Conando but I have to disagree, Coleman is no better than Danny Rose. A winger converted into a RB because he wasn't good enough in his original position. Coleman has his good games but defensively is very suspect.

Kaboul isn't a RB though, the times when Ive seen him play that position he's been particularly lacking.

If you wanted to play that game i'd rather have Verts at LB, to me Rose = Walker. Not saying that like its a bad thing, they are both young, talented, fast, agressive and have bags of attacking threat. But their positioning and general ball watching concern me greatly.

I don't believe for a second Coleman is in the same bracket as Danny Rose. Any time I have seen him play, he has been more than capable defensively, and is also better technically that Walker / Rose.

Even if we assume he is weak defensively (IYO), the same could be argued certainly of Rose and possibly to a lesser extent Walker. So surely the fact he is better going forward (IMO), makes up for this supposed deficiency?

Just spat my breakfast all over the screen.

Athletically, skill, talent and determination wise they are in different leagues. Walker learnt a lot about decision making last season but Coleman isn't worth Kyles left foot. People don't realize what a player we have on our hands with Kyle Walker!!!

Kaboul is probably as good a makeshift rightback as Verts is a makeshift leftback but my number one memory of Kaboul as a rightback was the cross he put in for Crouch at City when we beat them to qualify for the UCL in 2010:)

I don't quite see how Danny Rose is being considered better or equal to Walker in this discussion, he's played far less PL games and not nearly as consistently as Walker has. He has some way to go before catching up IMO.

He did? He isn't? I can't agree with this at all. Are you Walker's dad or something?

Should we get back on topic, yeah I think we should get back on topic especially as Coleman is double wank and shit chips.

Rawk
Bale is a good player, but it confuses me when people say things like "Spurs are going to miss Bale rescuing them 3 points every game", "They won't be able to replace him" etc.

If they assemble a good team, they won't need to rescue games. They will just win them. Personally, I think anyone who thinks Bale for, potentially, Paulinho, Soldado, Willian, Contraeo, Capoue and Lamela is nothing short of an amazing upgrade is mental.

If all these deals go through, and they hit the ground running, I would say they have the 3rd best team in the league, possibly minus their defence.

Whatever chance we did have of getting 4th, will certainly be a lot less likely now.

the riposte

That's a remarkable position to have taken - you think that Spurs are better than us and United

Rose is no where near as good as Kyle Walker...
