Think people are saying that because, genuinely, for the first time we have the quality in our own squad to achieve what needs to be done. No hoping for underperforming from other sides etc.

That depends how quickly it can come together of course and isn't a sure thing but whatevs. Looking forward to seeing how it does so. Fucking international break now.

Agreed.

Their farm is entirely bet on Oezil.

And they sold a lot of piglets, goslings and foals.

(Wasn't sure where to post this so I'll drop it in here...) Posted this elsewhere earlier but it occurred to me that people would get it more here:

Ozil said the other day that he wanted to go somewhere that "wins a championship" (paraphrased*). To mean that means the other lot have a plan to win silverware next year... its just a shame no one explained to Ozil that the championship in England is one level below the Prem :)

*some translations say "win a title" but that still could mean anything like the old Division 2 title :)

Couple of posts from Arsemania on the NLD:

"Not home long, I'm on my phone so all I'll say is a great win and well done to the lads. One thing I hate though is seeing Lloris play for Spurs, what a keeper."

"Possession is not a good way to judge which team that is dominant. The Liverpool-Utd game went to exact same way as our game with Spurs went; Liverpool got an early goal and then let Utd have all the possession. But Utd, just like Spurs, looked more likely to be conceding a second goal to a counter than to score an equalizer. Think ATM it looks like Us > Liverpool >>>>> Spurs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Utd IMHO, if I am a Utd fan I would have been extremely pissed off by what Moyes has been doing for the past few games."

"Lol...Levy just offered Chelsea a swap for Adebayor with Torres. Was told to fvck right off.
Ade's doing a Bendtner on Spurs. ." Not sure where they got that one from

I have no doubt that if they had the lions share of possession they would be ramming it down our throats.

Arsemania on transfers:

"Shame we couldn't get more done in terms of Transfers, a top draw striker would have made this all birthdays and Christmas presents rolled into 1 window. But I wont complain with signing Ozil, something I never expected before the last few days.

I guess we'll see more in January with the window. I know Wenger dislikes that window but I reckon we could be spending big again on someone then too. Is this the end of the penny pinching spending on players? Maybe. But I think we're going to throw our weight around (we are a bigger draw then we give ourselves credit for) and try signing top players now."

" I won't make a big introduction. I'll just say simply: everything has changed, in my opinion. And that has to do with that single factor being there, or not.

Sure, I can't deny it has to do with this signing. But it goes way beyond that: this signing wouldn't have happened without ambition. And other things - results of this signing, or unrelated to it - will happen.

I'll stop here - this is a wide topic, I'll allow much. But keep it related to ambition - stray too far and I'll cut it short. Much to be said, if I got it right."

"Also, everybody says it but it's true, the first big signing is the hardest, look at the reaction from our current players, Santi Cazorla amazed at the signing of Ozil, this'll make top players WANT to sign for Arsenal.

This is the start of something special."

"We could sign Ibrahimovic in January. After buying Ozil anything is possible."

"Whether or not we did always actually have ambition is irrelevant IMO. What is relevant is that the world just watched us own transfer deadline day buying a supreme talent from a supreme team for supreme money with supreme wage incentives. We were a laughing stock in the transfer market before today. I think that we'll always have less power in the market than City, Chelsea, and even Manchester United but I think that we could realistically set ourselves on a pace of 1 elite player a year which as long as we make good intelligent decisions is enough to make us elite again. If we sign a WC striker next summer, we're talking about an elite squad minus any serious departures."

They´ve become a very confident bunch overnight

Funny because I thought exactly the same regarding our game and the dippers and United.

Us and United looked like the home teams but too much huff and puff, lacking cohesion and definitely lacking invention.

Dippers and Scum looked like the away sides playing on the break. Saw less ball but looked more threatening on the counter with space to play into.

The good thing for us, is that we have the guile of Eriksen to come in. Not to mention Lamela.

United are bringing in Fellaini. Not sure I really get that signing for them.

Rafa scored/scores more than Ozil... RM flogged Ozil as he didn't score enough... Pointless comparing them.

Edit

Just checked stats, it seems I was talking shit for RM anyway... Even so, there different players, VDV is more of a goal threat IMO.

Even after the edit you were still talking shit.

I don't know why, it's not usually in my nature, but I really want to torture this dumb fuck. Hopefully this season will do that for me. If they sign a striker next summer, they still haven't plugged the holes in their squad. 1 marquee signing, no deficiency addressing, reminds me of real madrid, only they are crapper.

Trust me guys as soon as the injuries start, and they will with their piss poor medical team, they'll wish they signed more bodies. Then the complaints will start again.
Right now they're looking good and signed a world class talent. Of course they're happy.
Let's see where they are at the end of the season, and if they're still laughing.

We can only compete with the scum if we play at the tempo and intensity they did against us. That's one thing about them that they have got completely sussed.

If we play slow, it's no go.

Very much agreed. The need to be pressed and powered out. Many teams we come up against allow us to play in our 1st & the middle third of the pitch, then crowd out their 3rd. The tempo needs to be high and aggressive. Bale helped a lot with that. I'm keen to see if our new attackers can do that, or alternatively if they are that astute creatively that we can play about with the ball, against a defensive minded team, and carve out openings. Looking forward to watching more games (bloody national fixtures!)

This is where Eriksen comes in. Crucial he'll be. He doesn't hold on to the ball, he releases it quickly if the pass is on. This is what we are crying out for. Its often quick first time balls that open up defences. A quick mind with good vision and great technique is what this guys brings to the table.

That in itself will speed up our play. Our off the ball movement has to be better to but its like a chicken and egg scenario. If we get use to Eriksen, for example, playing first time balls...the rest of them will offer better off the ball movement for him.

I really do think he'll transform our play, he'll be the hub in the final third for us.
