Twice in three seasons 2009-10 and 2011-12 suggests otherwise.

I think some fans have genuinely forgotten that we finished 4th twice because we were nearly men for so long. Perhaps the second time was forgotten because we didn't get into the CL.

Most fans struggle to remember what happened last season, let along 3 years ago, so it's not really a surprise.

You make a great point, and I agree with you, but the people who wrote him off before he even started were complete fools and it also thereby stands as testament to such.

We were correct to be disappointed with his appointment. Time will tell if proves us wrong, he certainly hasn't done it yet.

Everyone, at least every opponents fan, has forgotten the second time thanks to the Chelski.

I disagree. The most important thing in that moment was stability, not a big name continental coach with zero knowledge of the club. Sherwood knew the club very well, including every player at every single level and every staff member, as well as a style the fans wanted. He's also proven himself to have arguably the best eye for talent in development academies among any of the big clubs. He was exactly what we needed in that moment, and it looks like that decision has paid off. Regardless of whether we go on to perform against City next weekend, we needed someone to steady the ship, and he's done precisely that.

RAWK:

If we can beat Spurs and Everton at home. Get something at OT and win 2 out of Chelsea at home, Man City at home and Arsenal at home and dont drop points to teams we should be beating, like vs. Villa, we SHOULD be alright for top 4.

And if we win all our remaining games, we should win the league.

I imagine their fans are feeling like they could beat anyone in the world at he moment, with good reason.

I'd hazard a guess that they might not be expecting another thrashing given their away form, but then again our home form is hardly stellar this season so who knows.

This will be Sherwood's first home game against a bigger team. Can't wait!!!

City have both the League Cup semi v WHAM and an FA Cup 4th round game v Watford before us so not much on bluemoon yet, but some stuff from their weekend football thread. There is a little apprehension there and a few decent comments. Most of them are just glad we're above United.
Glad spurs have won this one. Makes it harder for the rags to catch them. Let's just hope they haven't improved well enough to beat us in the next game.
Good win for Tottenham. I had a sneaky suspicion that 4th would always come down to them or United. Lost confidence once they sacked AVB, but Sherwood is doing a good job. Adebayor when motivated is such a complete striker.
They have around 10 days to rest and recover while we have to play West Ham and Watford.
Ade may have lost his form by then!

We have been on a good run of form, but it has also felt slightly fortunate. The defense has looked spastic, but competent all season, but recently they have been riding their luck. City won't be as forgiving as Southampton/Swansea and the like. Unless City suddenly forget how to finish. We'd be lucky to knick a draw. Not trying to be a downer either. Love watching us play and quite proud of what the boys have done of late.

Should have jan back by then, which should make a difference.
Would like an lb to come in.

I'd wonder if City fans are underestimating us or think we'll give them a game or more...

Hopefully we have have a full strength squad to choose from by then and they have one eye on their game with Chelsea which follows that weekend.

If we manage to beat City they've lost the same amount of games as us. We wont be expected to get anything from the game so pressure if off us in a sense.

Le Professeur (Forum Member) on Yesterday, 5:39 pm

From RAWK, on Sherwood

I don't deny he's doing a good job. He is still as thick as pig shit though, as can be seen by his unique grasp of the English language.

Ermmm...SCOUSE ACCENT ANYONE? Jeezus talk about looking in the mirror before you speak. Even Skrtel said he doesn't learn scouse because he prefers "proper English".

Done some whoring:

Some fair, well thought out points from RAWK (!?)
just feel that no team seems to be rated on here. Everyone has some inevitable massive flaw that's gonna see their season fall flat on its face

Going by whats said about the teams around us they should be in the bottom half, but they're very very close to us

The sheer amount of times any teams chances of finishing above us are written off with 'as soon as injuries hit/they hit this run of fixtures/they get found out/their squad cant cope' is ridiculous

It never actually happens either.

It's called being a football fan, we are all damned deluded
tongue.gif
Long may it continue my delusion keeps me sane, christ i can still play for Liverpool if i put some effort in
wink.gif
Failing that I am the greatest arm chair fan ever, there ain't no one that can put a tinny away like me and shout at the screen, im simply the greatest
tongue.gif

Edit:
Forgot to add that i can now post forums, so i have just entered the messi sphere of football fans
grin.gif

Spurs, Everton, United are shit and we are a shoe in for fourth, get over yourself and get with the delusion already
wink.gif

And not so much so
did you watch the game where we utterly destroyed them and actually had to go easy on them at their own stadium?

you think the manager has changed that much about them?

i would play them every week. completely average team.

Suprisingly well thought out posts in general, though:
I wouldn't want to play them next week. They look a totally different outfit to the one that lost 5-0 a month ago.

And a true football fan:
I wouldn't mind playing them anytime, but I think that about any team,I may be deluded or just plain stupid but I would back Liverpool to beat any team, not because we are better than everybody or that I am a super fan(whatever that term is supposed to mean) just that I think on our day we can beat anybody

And general stuff about spurs not being a shite team:
5.0 at the Lane doesn't show that then?
grin.gif

as far as the league is concerned that's just one instance, nice for us, but just one instance - for league purposes we need to be above them come the final table. If we stop trying experiments that have failed for other managers we should do that.

They've been a breath of fresh air since Sherwood took over.

More like a fart, to be honest ...
:D

Just look at the goal difference and it's easy to see why Liverpool fans rate their team significantly better. Spurs have definitely improved though under Sherwood and I am getting a bit twitchy. His tactics are a bit shit IMO but they seem to be successful so far and against pretty decent teams.

"Premier League: Louis Van Gaal approached over Tottenham job"

This was before Sherwood.

If Van Gaal wants it - and Spurs don't make Europe - after the World Cup, then it will be "Bye, bye Sherwood - you can stay on and carry Louis' cones to the training ground if you'd like. And you'd better learn all about systems and tactics, and formations, because this bloke is obsessed with them"
smiley.gif
Noooooooooo! This must never happen. Spurs exist to appoint half-witted English managers, get a few games of bounce from their simple, English, up-and-at-em "methods", and then live in disappointment for the remainder of each year. God forbid they get someone who really knows what he is doing there, allied to a decent squad of players!
