You could have made that post in just about every thread on this forum.
Cartoons now. Lovely.

I made the post on this thread because it's one I like and because it's been completely polluted with spam. Just because other threads get spammed doesn't mean it's desirable or acceptable. Open a fucking grammar thread if that's what you want to talk about.

Only nine years or so. Your point is what exactly?

Soften up, man.

No need for people to air their dirty laundry in this thread.

Puns and whatnot are part of the fabric of this community.

Maybe that doesn't wash with you, though?

So I thought I'd create a thread where correct spelling/grammar can be debated without ruining other threads - we'll see if it is popular or if I am just a lonely pedant.

As far as dutch is concerned, I'm pretty sure the rule is as follows...

It is either Van Persie (capital "v"), or Robin van Persie (small "v"). If the first name is left out, then the van becomes Van.

Where's HollandGooner when you need him?

Thoughts?

Another common mistake is El Classico (2*s) when it is El Clasico (1*s). In Argentina, they have El Superclasico, too. Hopefully a Spanish speaking member of this board can tell me whether it should be capitalised - I assume so.

Thoughts?

Please feel free to post your own pedantry below

Lovely thread.

English isn't my first language but two things always amuse me:

should have - should of (happens so regularly I'm almost not even sure what is right anymore lol)

definitely - definately, definantly and so on.
Thinking about those, they actually annoy me more than amuse me lately.

Carzola.

Crazola.

Whatever it is.

Oh and I see a few Mertesachers occasionally.

Perusing the Leicester City forum and general consensus is they'd prefer Spurs to beat Burnley in the replay because London is a better night out than Burnley. Which, given how their season is panning out, is probably as good a way of looking at it as any.

What also caught my eye, though was the poll on whether they'd like Jermain Defoe to join up.

The poll question was 'Jermain Defoe: Yes or No'.

376 said 'yes', 38 said 'no' and 1 guy said 'is that his song?' :ROFLMAO:

It's brilliant.

Followed by.

He puts his left leg on,
His left leg off,
On, off, On, off
While the balls played about,
You play the ball over and the flag is out
That's what offsides about

Woah Jermain Defoe
Woah the offside woe
Woah Jermain Defoe
Woah the offside woe
Timed run, last man, no no no.

I agree, throughout the 80s I went to almost all home games and can say we were always more than 90% full, especially before we became all seater

I used to go plenty in the 80's only missed 1 home match between 1980-1984, the trouble is I never remember us having crowds that low, unless he is talking about our reserve matches :D

Sadly our crowds did drop off at points through the 80's as they did at many clubs....during the 87-88 season we struggled to get over 20,000 for games at the back end of the season, the lowest being just under 16,000 against Derby County. And that in a 48,000 capacity ground. I remember it well as it was the first season I started to go every week.

That just about sums it up.

"This may not be what this thread is for but I'm going to do it anyway. I don't care if other people don't like it or if wading through endless irrelevant posts wastes their time. I realise that I could start a thread on it but can't be arsed, and why should I when I can do it here? It pleases me so fuck everybody else."

What a fine, considerate human being you must be Sweech. You must be a positive joy to know.

Ironic post of the year candidate.

"I'm complaining about off topic posts while being off topic myself to someone who doesn't care to change how they do things no matter how much I whine and throw my toys out of the pram. I will continue to whine and complain about it though, no matter how off topic I myself am being."

You're only encouraging me mate. :D

Or perhaps am I encouraging you?

From Planet Swans:

That's interesting but not entirely surprising given we had Leon and TC playing. TC's work-rate was hideous yesterday....I got tired just watching him. He was like some sort of bionic mole.....absolutely everywhere. I haven't seen a midfielder of ours run around like that in ages. At 22, his reading of where the ball was going to drop was phenomenal.

Yet it's not as bad as playing Young Boys.

I mean, imagine supporting them and looking for transfer news on google...
