Loved this comment on Arsenal forum

It's the same old problem though. Lack of genuine fighters. Mason was MOTM for me. He was dirty, sneaky, annoying and disruptive but what a will to win he displayed today. Not one of our players was up to the challenge of standing toe to toe with him.

That's why I love him and Bentaleb, they take the fight to the other team, and have that will to win.

Yeah, I agree completely. Liverpool has our number right now, there's no doubt about that. We simply haven't been able to come near them in the past season and a half, maybe more (I'm still salty about that shitty goal we gave up to I think it was Downing when Walker just played him in on goal at Anfield).

Liverpool are playing better recently, and we're going to get everything they've got, unlike Arsenal who simply wanted to sit back and beat us on the counter.

Disagree. Liverpool had the measure of a Spurs team featuring plodding performances from the likes of Paulinho, Ade, Capoue, Kaboul, etc. We've now got a completely different mentality, way of playing, and starting line-up.

It will certainly be a tough game but we've looked so different more recently that I wouldn't pay any mind to previous performances against Liverpool. If they think they're up against the same team that folded earlier in the season (which I doubt they do) they'll be in for a rude awakening.

When we beat chelsea we were coming off a 3-0 loss to them where we weren't actually that bad like we were vs Liverpool, if we take it to them their fans will get restless, much like WHL earlier this season and we could be alright, we have a much better mentality these days

More like £80m now
Honestly, Arsenal have some great talent in their squad. The problem is, they don't really have a definitive system, and Wenger doesn't seem to purchase players with any sort of plan. They simply purchase the best player available. The talent comes through against teams worse off them them, but the team seems to fall apart against sides playing as a team, with a definitive purpose. City are the same way (they simply have the best talent in the country), and we used to be the same under Redknapp. That team was phenomenal, but it was all just the collective play of a few brilliant individuals.

Chelsea of the past 2 years vs Chelsea now is strong support that the right players in a defined system can be better than simply putting some top players on a pitch together. I think it's no wonder than when players of the last half decade or so have left Arsenal for other teams, they seem to do very well. They are quality players, the team is just a tactical mess.

Thought I'd see what the Everton fans made of Lennon's first outing and signing in general

Definitely not in exchange for Mirrallas!

Otherwise, definitely a worthwhile acquisition. Nothing mind blowing but worthwhile.

Lennon could be useful considering Martinez appears to have told Coleman not to venture past the halfway line.
This stinks of a Levy sweetener for Mirallas in the summer
Being described as the best defensive winger in the league on the beeb, real hard worker in that regard; could free up Seamus big time.
Massive step up from McGeady, but so would a broken bit of a three-legged stool be. Very interested to see how he goes.
Welcome to the good guys Aaron!

I suppose they are the good guys considering their neighbours
Does he play on left or the right? I always imagine him on the left myself.

The left, always on the left :sneaky:

He really doesn't look happy. What's his beef.
In the middle? Not having that. He's been brought in to play where he's always played surely? We've been crying out for another winger who likes to beat the full back and get balls in the box. Cannot ever see Martinez bringing him in to play in the middle.

It makes me happy that scousers do actually say that :D

The conversation then trailed off somewhat..

heh, in that last pic he's carved some silly racing stripes into his eyebrows
Im getting mine done tomorrow!
me 2, may aswell have some type of design with remaining hair i have left.
Ha. I'm not far off meself.

In fact, I already have 2 big tramlines, some call them 'receders' or 'M head'. Yeah, whatever, designer tramlines yo!
My hair somewhat resembles skid marks in the snow. Does that mean I'm trendy?
I shave my head, chin and balls all with the same trimmers I've had for the past five years. I feel like a new born baby everytime I step into that bath afterwards.

Errrrmmm... so, to after the Scouse derby

Seemed to have a good understanding with coleman already

Very fast and wears black boots, he'll do for me
He linked well with Séamus and put his foot in.
going to be very useful for us
Seamus seemed to pick his game up as soon as Lennon came on.
I bet you Lennon becomes a more consistent player than that fraud Mirallas. Mirallas doesn't want to be here and it is showing in his play.

Straight swap in the summer it is then

Had a pop in to see what they're making of Defoe up Norf too

The quality in the run and finish man, what a bit of business!!!
Deal of this transfer window without a doubt
Every pundit in the land reckon kane was the best bit of business in the window.Wonder if they would still think the same if we were a southern team tho. Biased toss pots

So many Northerners hate the South as if there's some sort of biased towards Southern teams

I still think the Kane contract was better business. But Defoe was the best 'buy' of the window by a country mile.
I thought that at the time, Mr Phillips scored one at the scouse shit hole which was similar
It's his movement & football brain as well
So similar in my eyes anyway

Praised for his football brain? That's a first

You have to hand in to Liverpool FC. How they managed to indoctrinate the fans it's complete, blind manic faith in their right to be the best is what every commercial organisation dreams of bottling up.

I got this from RAWK, so no idea if its completely accurate but very interesting imo, shows us doing well and predicted finish of 4th place, I assume man u and southampton drop off because they have a harder run towards end of season.

"Huge weekend for Chelsea combined with a bad result for City have created a separation. Usually we see one or the other, but to have both at the same time is rare. We've seen 5 point separations between these two as late as Week 16 and 12, so the gap could close again.

Spurs have almost caught Arsenal in their effective 6 pointer.

A lost opportunity for us to gain some points, but at least we didn't lose any ground.

Man United play tomorrow, but cannot gain any ground because they won the equivalent match against the Hammers last season."

Thing is Soton are a better team this season so you would expect them to pick up a few extra points as will Man Utd (possibly). Hell we have a better team. So my conclusion is that Arsenal are a bunch of dicks.

Southampton were also a good team last season and comparing from equivalent fixtures last season the table at bottom shows they are only 4 points ahead from last season. So I still believe they will drop off. I also agree with your conclusion lol

Where he got my respect was when he tried to force the ref not to give him a penalty...good dude.
While I think Fowler was the best natural striker since Greaves, I never bought that story about trying to persuade the ref it wasn't a penalty. I've always thought he didn't realise the ref had given a pen and was trying to persuade him that he didn't dive and shouldn't be booked.

So if we assume that the fact there's already been a 9-point swing between us and Arsenal means this is likely to grow by at least the requisite two points in the last 14 games, you could actually claim we're on course to finish 3rd right now. Especially if we can get at least 3 points out of our next two games, both of which were lost last season.

I know this line gets trotted out all too often, but I feel it really is a must win game.

Along with Man United, possibly the most annoying team in the league.

How many points has Eriksen alone earned them? Or how many have they earned from losing/drawing positions in the last ten minutes?

:ROFLMAO:

Spurs are starting to settle now under their new manager and look a fit, hard working side with a few genuine game winners.

We have shown great promise in the last couple of months after learning to live without Suarez and Sturridge to some extent.

I expect the game will be open, Spurs will target our weak spots at the back and we will expose theirs, the winner will be the side that takes their chances. We really need this victory.

Big game this, one of many six pointers coming up. Brendan might of settled for a point in the derby and rested Sterling and Coutinho, hope there fresh anyhow. I would start Sturridge. Team would be:

Mignolet
Can Skrtel Sakho

Markovic Henderson Allen Moreno

Sterling Coutinho
Sturridge

Bench : Ward, Lovren, Johnson, Ibe, Gerrard, Balotelli, Borini.

Plenty of ways to change the game if need be. Lovren could come on, push can into the middle. Could bring Johnson on and go to a back four etc

I hope their win against Arsenal breeds enough over confidence for them to come to Anfield and have a go at us, because we struggle against teams who sit deep.

We need to smash these c*nts. If we don't win I feel top 4 is gone.

I don't think we should take Spurs lightly. Especially with the form Kane and Eriksen are in but, if we're on our game I believe we will be more than good enough to beat them.

We'll need to match their energy, we simply cannot afford any passengers during the game. My thinking with Mario is that he really does have a point to prove, but I'd be more than content with Markovic in place of Coutinho. Ibe for me deserves to keep his place.

Having watched them vs Arsenal, Spurs are relentless in their press but are similar to us in that apart from Erikson they lack that creative spark.

Biggest game of our season so far - I know each weeks is but...this one really is! If we lose this Top 4 is probably gone, win it though and we're right there in the thick of it. All 3 of Southampton, Arsenal and United are at home against so-so opposition too so it becomes even more important to get 3 points.

A must win game but this is going to be an extremely hard game to win. Spurs are so intense in their pressing but they do press really high up the pitch and pace can hurt them as Arsenal showed. The goal they scored came out of nothing but Welbeck knocking it past Rose and sprinting to get across in. I have a feeling that this might be the game where Sturridge finally gets a start given how tired Sterling has started to look. Ibe might get a good run as well I think.

Spurs will come to play mate. It's what Pochettino's teams do. His teams don't sit back and soak up pressure. They try and press high up the pitch like his Southampton side did against us last season. They will be confident they can come here and win. Which hopefully should work in our favour.

Spurs are overhyped team. We will smash them like always. 3-0 is minimum.

No. He tried to tell the ref it wasn't a penalty. Bookings for diving were almost unheard of then.
