Be fair, before him they spent £20m on downing and £35m on carroll. £20m for hendersonmust seem like bargain of the century.

Quite shocking when you consider the return on investment. hen again Henderson was a Dalglish signing i think, so he wasn't spotted by that prick Rogers i guess.

  1. Meanwhile over at saints web the delusion meter reaches a new level. I'm sorry but I don't care what anyone says southampton are not level with us as a club or anything for that matter. One 7th place finish in the prem proves nothing. Alderweireld would pick Spurs any day if given the choice

"Spurs can offer what ever they like, but if Toby dosen't want to go there it won't matter, last i heard he said he wanted to stay at Saints, Spurs wouldn't be a step up in my opinion."

    .......................:.

"I'm sure if everything on offer to Toby, wages, bonuses etc, were all equal between saints and spurs he'll join us but it's not going to be equal and he'll go where there's more money on offer."

They really are for want of a better phrase a bunch of absolute Toby's.

They've gone from saying 'if he wants to join Southampton there is nothing Spurs can do about it' they are now clinging on to the idea that AM missed a date to cancel the transfer. Yeah he really sounds keen.

If you have to threaten legal action to get him to play for you he probably isn't that into it.

o_O Excuse me? When was the last time Southampton finished above us or won a major trophy? Must surely be over a decade now.

Last time they finished above us was '04. The season after that, they finished rock bottom of the league (then dropped down all the way to L1 before coming back upwards).

Edit: Even before that, it was rare. Here are the comparative graphs of league positions from Wikipedia. Saints in Red, Spurs in Blue:

10 years ago they got relegated! Then they had administration and I think another relegation. They've done well to get back to where they are, I can't lie. But It's fair to say we are a step up from them, even the most ardent fan must see it, I'm not talking internet talk though, that stuff can be wild lol

The correlation from 68 to 2004 is pretty crazy

Well Southampton and Wet Spam it seems are certainly now in our price range for buying players others being Aston Villa Newcastle Everton maybe Sunderland

Southampton have done really well to step up.

Liverpool are the next level up with Arsenal then ManU ManC Chelski

Southampton and west ham are gambling with money they don't have. Their debts are growing. The new tv money might be able to ofset this. The os wont really help at the prices they are charging. As soon as the stadium is built we will be able to blow them out of the water.

Buying? Perhaps. Wages? No way. Liverpool maybe the the next level up financially, but they're still a fairly steep (around £50m behind, and that's with the CL money they won't have next season) level down from Arsenal (the lowest of the top 4) too.

Shame about the supporters then. I am really impressed with what the saints have done the last few years and I wish them well.

We're still ahead in wages we're able to offer

All the Southampton fans I know have Arsenal as their second team after Southampton got relegated. Bear that in mind, as well as Rupert Lowe's comments and now Poch/Mitchell.
