Think most of the the “proper football men” pundits on sky, and tabloid brown nosed hacks had us out of the top 4, a lot of journos working for “real” newspapers like the guardian were predicting we’d do well
One of the proper football men who predicted us for top four was Harry Redknapp.

I know many hate him, but he always sticks up for us these days, unlike his cretinous son.

Harry's easily the second best Spurs manager I've seen in my time, and prior to Poch he brought us the best football and results we'd had in 20 years. Only a churl would begrudge him being remembered favourably overall, whatever views people have on his flaws.

Completely agree. Still the best ever football we’ve played in the last 30 years was under arry.
Not as consistent or solid as now for sure but that midfield of bale Lennon Modric Parker Van Der Vaart with Defoe or Crouch etc up top wow. If we’d just had Kane back then and our defence of Today we’d have been some fucking team

100% agree and I think he was harshly treated by Levy. Yes he did take his eye off the ball, but I think it was understandable to a certain degree. He was linked to the England job heavily, which for a football man of his generation is the pinnacle, and was also getting over his tax trial. Despite the late season collpase he still got us top four, which but for a fluke would have seen us in the CL again and the simple fact is that AVB was no upgrade. We played some great football under Harry and I remember his tenure fondly.

I’m pretty sure most pundits had us out of the top 4 at the start of year. Great job boys getting over the line.

Now give poch what he needs to take us that little bit further.

Yes I remember so many saying that playing at Wembley would be a big handicap for us especially as we were almost faultless there last season. Sure it has been a handicap, it is not home, but we have overcome this obstacle. Roll on the new WHL

Dennis Wise is such a wankpuffin.

He’s on SSN saying ‘I don’t know why they collapse at the end of every season, maybe it’s a mental thing’.

Or maybe it’s because it only happened once, 2 seasons ago, you fucktard.

We haven’t collapsed yet this season as there are still 2 games left and it’s in our hands. He would do well to remember we were behind Chelsea a couple of months or so ago and now they’re currently behind us, so it’s chelsea who suffered a collapse until we beat them.

Yes losing at West Brom and drawing at Brighton are bad results but both teams are on form and have beaten top 4 teams in their last few matches. Despite our form being pretty shit, we’re still taking points most games and we can go third tonight above the greatest team ever to have played the game... . Some collapse that is.

he can go crawl back under the stone he came from:finger:

Top words from Tony Cottee on Sky PL Daily. Worth a watch.

Slams the criticism and is full of positive stuff about Harry.

Liked that.

Saw that, mentioned it elsewhere.

I don't want to see 'a total nothing but praise' for Spurs scenario - criticism please when it is due and praise too. Not a continuous hatchet job.

It's not that he was gushing praise on Kane, it was more his stance on the critical aimed towards him.

I think a whole load of ex pros could have supported him a whole lot more.

Liverpool.

I know they didn't play last night but I haven't heard any mention of how the wheels might come off during the run in their flamboyant and swashbuckling season.

Not a media ripple.

Absolutely. I've always been surprised at the amount of hate I've seen towards him from various Spurs fans to be honest. As a manager he gave me some of my absolute favourite moments as a Spurs fan.

I thought that the main criticism of Arry was he failed to make the best of the squad he had. Thats not to say he didnt do a decent job only that he should have done better.

I'm genuinely perplexed by the hatchet job some pundits and press do on players. Not just our own, but any that go through a bad phase from any team. There's a real negative element to the British psyche that loves to knock people down, rather than being positive and building them up.

It's no wonder some young talent is apprehensive about trying new things in games.

I can't find the quotes now, but when pochettino first started at spurs he talked about the young English players having a lack of faith in their own abilities. I'm sure part of that is the constant negativity you read at times. It's utterly baffling. Cristisism is fine, in the constructive form.

I'm not referring to any imagined media bias here, I don't think that exists. I'm referring to what often appears to be an over arcing sense of negativity towards any teams national treasures. Particularly if they happen to be English.

I think there's often a bit of resentment from pundits that young men can still play and they can't. I always find it amusing when pundits criticise players for not doing something that they never did themselves. At the end of the day, having played professional football is no guarantee that a person has a valid opinion about the game and there is always a bias effect which skews their opinions anyway. We'd all like to be younger but being resentful of younger people usually doesn't do anything constructive.

There's a lot of "frustrated footballer" and envy in the English press. Armchair fans with a pedestal...

Amazing how often middle aged men look to rip teenage/young lads careers to shreds, having often been the ones building them up to ridiculous heights in the first place.

And then most of the ex-pros are partisan and old boys club, rather than professional...

I try to ignore these days...
