This is a phrase that should not be used by anyone, especially THFC fans. I'm sure no offence was meant, but it can be taken out of context.
Ha, what?

It means they ran out of steam, got tired, worked too hard in the early stages.

It has absolutely nothing to do with anything else at all.

youve got this one wrong

Listen to what everyone else is saying.

No one - literally no one in this discussion is looking to disrespect those who died in the holocaust.

You’re the only one trying to make the link between the two.

Take it easy
During the holocaust, Jews (and others) were not all gassed... Some were shot... some hanged... some beaten to death... some buried alive. We should not stop using words or phrases because they 'could' relate to the holocaust. Words didn't kill 6 million souls... People did.

Seriously? Where was that?
I'm from Sydney which is obviously the biggest place in Oz and petrol is purchased at a petrol station. Always.
Port Macquarie... everyone used to say they are going to get gas. I cant remember what the stations were called because I didnt have a car I was there as an overseas cricket player. The same in South Africa and my South African friend who plays for my club here also says gas.

Port Macquarie NSW, OK fair enough.
Never been there and don't know anyone from there. Heard it's nice though.
The closest I can do is just north of Newcastle and then Brisbane. I have cousins there.
I will ask.
BTW, Kudos for being an overseas cricket player.

I'm shocked that there are South Africans who call it gas. Over here we only know it as an American term. Gas over here is the stuff you use to light a stove or you pass it when, hopefully, you're alone.

It's petrol all the way.

You know when you look at someone and know they're thick as shit without listening to them, That's Agbonlahor.

Carlton Cole beats him - sorry but Carlton Cole is number one in that ranking. Merson is up there but he is no where near those two biut Carlton up there...
In fairness, it’s hard to know what she really sounds like while she‘s got three quarters of her tongue stuck up Guardiola’s arsehole.

I love Melissa Reddy so whilst it would pain me seeing her do it to another man - id pay to see that like on one of the speciality websites

As a Jew, I am actually more offended by this comment. It is culturally illiterate. Not all expressions, idioms, colloquialisms are British. There are people from all over the world on SC. The poster was simply saying that the Villa players ran out of gas, after going full throttle in the first half. Being ‘gassed’ is a US colloquialism. Meaning that someone is out of energy. Perhaps it was phrased in a way that allowed for a lack of understanding. But at least ask first before going straight for the ‘shame’ button.

A discussion on the common phrase "to run out of gas" being connected to the holocaust was not the conversation I was expecting in this thread.

Got to love SC.
