Left winger.

I HATE to say that, we have ruined excellent players by playing them out of position.

But seeing him toy with the defenses during the 2 Internationals was too good to ignore it.

They were the best things to happen for him due to him being rusty after his injury.

I would have to say left wing but left back will still work well provided he has good cover when going forward

Bale at LB, Dos Santos LW.

Get Bale going forwards and overlapping Dos Santos.

But against the likes of the top 4, play Bale LW, will be able to provide more defensively, but will also be very good going forward.

What do Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United all have down their left side?

An excellent, pacey, attacking fullback. Cashley, Clichy, Evra.

What one player best characterised Ramos' Sevilla side?

An awesome, rampaging right back, Dani Alves...

play him at fullback, give him license to overlap, and a dedicated holding midfielder to fill the space if we lose possession and he will make goals.

Id say Left Back, I believe we get two players in 1 if we play him their.

Choosing to play him at LM would mean BAE, Gilberto or some other like at LB, a position we are not that strong in, Bale showed vs chelsea he was quality their and it can also allow him to push forward and show his attacking prowess.

Left CM in a 3, LW in a 442 or LB in any formation but it would depend totally on the opposition, what CB's we had out and if it were home or away. If i had Ledley and Woodgate at cb i'd play him LB against everyone at home but pick and choose on merit if i play him at LB in tough away games. Ramos used Alves in both RM and RB roles depending on the situation. I think if Bale is as good s we've seen glimpses of and as good as his reputation he'll be Ramos' Alves.

Good point in the Alves relation. Im thinking a Bale / Giovani partnership on the left hand side, much like Alves / Navas.

I have no doubt in my mind Bale will be recognised as one of the best left back / left midfielders in the world within a few years, he reminds me so much of a young ryan giggs.

How long can we hold onto him for before the others come sniffing?

DC will be doing his oscar winning "He was tapped up" complaining while gleefully dealing with Man Utd his price like he always does.

Ive been saying it since bale joined and had his first few good games.

Much like berbatov, man utd "were interested", but seemingly put off by paying a large fee on someone un-tested in the best league.

They have let us buy him and have clearly seen he is top quality, great left peg, and an uncanny ability reminscent to that of giggs to dribble in/out and between defenders.

Man Utd will be after him sooner or later, I just hope this time spurs do all they can to hold onto such a talented and great player. World class - no doubt.

oops. I said DC. I meant Levy.

Here is the rub: This is probably Giggs last season. Which may equate to it being Bales last season with us :-(

David Prutton is a good friend of my little brothers and he said he's never seen a LB dictate a football macth like he did (all be it in the championship). He said in training he was mint and that he's still convinced Bale will end up in CM by his mid 20's.

I heard a similar thing from friends about Bostocks debut for Palace as a 15 year old substitute.

What to do with him?
Keep him fit at all costs that's what we had to do.

No matter what position we play him in we need to get him some old fashioned boots (with extra support) and thick shinpads. This is because he doesn't seem to be able to ride tackles and as a result may spend even more time on the treatment table.

Left back or midfield, but I'd personally prefer him as a left midfielder. He can beat players, has pace and we all know about his crossing and he'd still be up and down helping the left back. However, I'd rather Assou-Ekotto didn't play as he hasn't impressed me in his two games (although it has only been two games).

for me bale should play anywhere on the left side, depending on the situation/opposition. A great player to have in the team, if he's playing LB and teams give him special attention it will free up space for the rest of the team.

dictating games from LB shows what a quality player he is. And with wales, even at this young age he's shown the ability to be like gerard with liverpool, and by that i mean inspiring his teammates to get a result or taking it upon himself to make the crucial difference.

with all the responsibility he's got on his shoulders with wales i think he'll go on to become a fantastic, hopefully world class player, and hopefully with us. When he gets back to us he's not the star of the squad so over the next few months he should be able to quietly go about his business playing football without too many distractions.

i'd rather him LB then BAE or Gilberto - so LB unless we can find a better one

Apart from boring boring Liverpool (where Rafa kicked Riise out), the "Big Four" all have small, attacking, LBs: Evra, Clichy, Ashley Cole.

BA-E is very much in that mould, although he's not (yet) as competent defensively.

Having seen Gilberto given the run-around at LB playing for our ressies, I only consider him a midfield option in English football. He can just about get away with playing as an attacking LB for Brazil, but he's just too slow & sluggish on the turn to deal with players running at him in the EPL.

Bale has huge potential as both a LB and, frankly, almost anywhere in midfield (although primarily as a LM). He's also taller than most EPL LBs, which is useful in defending crossfield balls which look to exploit small LBs.

I'd also play Bale at LB, and hope Juande & Gus are working with his defending in training. And I'd like to see Gio ahead of him in LM, especially in home games.
