It’s been a year since we said goodbye :(

Just been going through some photos and videos of the day that are still on my phone... Feels like yesterday. The memories of being on that pitch at the end will never leave me and still make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

I think I winnered this at the time but every time you post and I see your avatar it makes me a little envious. For me, BMJ was the start of this trajectory we've been on. I would have been like a starstruck kid if I met him. I reckon he'd be awesome to have a pint with.

I love Martin Jol, Martin Jol loves me :headphone:

When Martin Jol hugs you you can even let go of White Hart Lane. That’s some superpower shit going on right there.

Fun time Franky was as important if not even more so but they certainly started this great revolution getting rid of all that dead wood. They did a remarkable job in such a short space of time

I was expecting new photos from yesterday. Dougal must be going down in stature.

Leaving Wembley behind was not the same experience. Took me three attempts to walk away last year as I just couldn’t say goodbye, including going back and forth to the pub. It was only on the third attempt that I got into the reception and hung around.

Walked out yesterday wondering what to have for dinner. Didn’t look back.

I've posted this before, but PL Tuck, this story is for you since you love martin so much!....

Feb 2006 we beat Charlton 3-1 at The Lane. Me and three mates, all of us over from Belfast, waited at the car park exit like excited ten year olds after the game to see if we could catch a glimpse of some of our heroes. Jenas went past in a range Rover, stopped briefly and signed a few autographs for people. I said "nice goal today Jermaine" and he said "Thanks"...drove off. We saw Gary Mabbutt drive past smiling in a big green range rover, Ledley in a Bentley, Huddlestone in an Audi, and a few other players including Lee Barnard in his Ford Fiesta.

We kept waiting until it was dark. All other fans had left. It was now just the four of us. No sign of anyone else. We felt we'd done our best at squeezing out the last drops of a memorable day. We were about to leave for the train station when headlights appeared from the car park....barrier went up and a saloon car drove past slowly, a Mercedes I think. As we glimpsed in expecting to see an anonymous club employee we saw the car was being driven by a woman, a kid in the back....and Big Martin Jol in the passenger seat. As we realised and it dawned on us in a split second who it was we shouted "Martin!!", but obviously to no avail. He was tired after a long day, the last to leave, with his family, and probably just wanted to get home. The car was 100 yards past us and we started to make our way to the train again. Then, something happened. The car in the distance slowed and then pulled over to the side of the road, stopping. There was a short pause and a hand came out of the passenger window waving to us to come to the car! We sprinted up and there was Martin Jol with the window down, sitting in his club blazer and tie, smiling his big familiar grimace from ear to ear. He didn't get out of the car but we got photos and autographs. He was a really nice guy and wanted to know where we were from etc. Nice touch after a long day, he still had time to pull over to say hello to four fans, two of whom were on their first visit to WHL.

My experience was similar. He was walking to his car, I asked him on the way for a picture but he kept walking and opened the car door. My heart sank as I’d just been blanked meeting a hero of mine. He hung up his jacket in the car, turned around and greeted me like an old friend. Bloody Legend.

my best moment was cabbing big Pat (my idol as a kid) to St Georges Park last year, and getting paid for it(y)
