Hey guys, was at the lane today and it was yet another good win (COYS), just a thought that im sure we've all noticed - every time we are winning comfortably at home (Liverpool, Villa, Bolton today in recent memory) for the last quarter of the game we seem to just sit on the lead and pass it around defence/midfield and make backward passes and go into 'walking mode' - even when theres no danger of the opposition coming back into the game.

Kyle Walker was getting pissed off at the defenders today for not getting the ball forward during the last 20 odd minutes - it does frustrate me to as its perfect oppurtunity to get our goal difference up but we just seem to think 'Okay seems we've won this game, let's see it out' with 20 minutes to go...

Is this because we're tired or what? I'm not saying when we're 3-0 up we should go sprinting everywhere with 85 minutes gone and become knackered but we seem to 'accept' the score so early on sometimes when surely we should just get forward as much as possible.

By the way i know we still created a chance or two as the game closed out today but we can create so much more with a bit of urgency and attack minded passes instead!

Keeping all players fit and healthy becomes no.1 priority at that point in the game.

If you are the Sopcast bloodzeed then I am upset that you didn't show us today :-| but otherwise, keep up the good work.

I totally understand where the OP is coming from, and heard others making the same comments coming out of the ground, especially as City and Arse had both won by 4-goal margins.

But, my feeling was pretty similar to the responses above - I couldn't give a shit.

Yes, it could be very very close at the top this season, but I can't think of many seasons when a top placing has come down to goal difference. Besides, right now our GD is comparable to Chelsea's, only a little worse than Man U's and better than everyone else's (bar City's which is obscene this early in a season).

Times are good. Enjoy, and stop looking for negatives. We're Spurs - the negatives will present themselves soon enough I'm sure!!

It's a long season and there's no point killing ourselves trying to thrash teams, right?

Agree with this.

At 3-0 the game was more than won today, no need to risk any knocks or injuries busting a gut trying to get more goals.

This is a completely ridiculous thing to be complaining about... Jesus.

I would rather keep ball and keep clean sheet. We should not be looking to rely on goal difference (although I do agree it could play a big part come the end of the season). This is where injuries happen, fatigue sets in and you tend to make the wrong decision and some of those decisions can result in injuries. I'm well happy we won but over the moon for the clean sheet!

We created enough chances today to get our goals tally up but unfortunately didn't take as many chances as we could have. But we still won 3-0 and the points are what matter the most. We got 3 and we kept a clean sheet. How anyone can complain is beyond me, but hey that is typical of some of our fans. Even when we're doing great they still find something to moan about.

How often have we seen the top teams, no less Barca do exactly the same thing at 3-0 up? Keep the energy levels up, take the sting out of the game and keep a clean sheet. That's all we need.

I only get frustrated when we miss easy chances.

If we dominate a game and win 1-0, 3-1, 4-3 or 9-1 it doesn't matter to me if the end result = 3 points.

We should have had a bucket load today and in the end we scored 3, conceded 0, domimated and got 3 points

I'm happy

surely its obvious? why would we risk injuries etc when the game has already been won?

This is exactly the right thing to do. Pass it around, keep the ball and not get caught piling forward when we already have the game won. Passing it around the middle and back, side to side. Suck the opposition out chasing if possible and if not just keeping the ball away from them. I was impressed when we did it against Liverpool, it showed maturity that we haven't always shown.

Barcelona keep the ball so much all game that the other team is practically dead by the end of the match, after all the chasing. It's a completely different scenario, Spanish defences are generally shit. Also Barcelona have a decent goalscorer called Messi or something.

For what it's worth, I think a 3-0 scoreline is more than sufficient, if we beat 3/4 of the bottom half teams by 3 goals or more at home, that gives us a goal difference of at least +21 without even bringing the other matches into the equation. Nothing to complain about IMO.
