I'm not at all sure who our main rivals will be because so many siginings will be made, and so much depends on how the teams perform in those crucial first four/five games

 I totally agree

At the moment we have improved enough to get 8th-6th only. If we buy a decent to good GK, CD and a DM we will be 6th-4th. If we buy a world class GK, CD & DM we should be looking at 5th-3rd.

All of this barring injuries etc... and other squads improving the same or less than us. We underperformed last season. If we took more points in the begining 10 games we'd be in a much better position for the final 10 games. We might have had more fight in the final games too.

Everton and Liverpool for me.
Aston Villa and Newcastle will improve, but I don't feel they'll be a treat to us for a 5th, potentially 4th place finish.

I think Ramos having the time he has had so far is priceless. Think we'll be good for 65 points. Liverpool 70-75 and Everton with a strong home record, similar to us will be good for 65 too.

Villa and Newcastle, again based on home records I think will top 55 but won't directly challenge us or Everton.

Hmmm, we'll see...

Everyone apart from Man U and Chelsea. No match for them. Everyone else can beat us on their day, such is the competitiveness in the Prem.

I think we might also be able to give Chelsea a run for the money if they lose a few players like Lampard and Drogba. Plus they still haven't got a manager yet.

Man City are potentially the most dangerous but they could also be a complete joke. They have the financial muscle, but Hughes will no longer need to be so shrewd - which could be his downfall. And in any case, I believe he has a chairman who wants to be a manager looming over him.

Everton will be there or there abouts and probably Villa too.

We should still be in the top 5 though.

Agree with that, especially it becoming Hughes' downfall. Sort of like what happened at Newcastle with Allardyce. Not sure how long it will be before Hughes gets annoyed with Dr Shin for interfering with team affairs. Time will tell!

No surprises for me, Villa and Everton the main rivals.

unless we (everton) get some funds we'll struggle to stay in the top 6 again. moyes has not signed a new contract and the rumour is he wont until he finds out what the board will give him. and knowing our board it will be 50p and a book of luncheon vouchers.

The demise of Arsenal and Liverpool has been predicted for the past two-three seasons. It hasn't happened. We can't sit around waiting for them to implode, because it won't happen. We have to gather together a squad hat can actually match them.

City, Villa, Everton, possibly the Barcodes.

Everton, Newcastle, Villa, Portsmouth, Man City and maybe Blackburn if they keep their players and get a good manager.

I think our goal should be in the mix for the title next season, if we fall short (which we almost certainly will) then it's keeping in touch and if that results in 70 plus points and the top three or four then great. Everything else is just degress away from that imo.

Failure however, in my mind, will be 58 points or less.

Everton, Aston Villa.

However i feel the club that would be our biggest rivals would be Tottenham Hotspur.
Only our players and Senor Ramos can determine how well we play. In fact the club as a whole including the board and the fans will always play a role in determining our success.

I just hope our team dont go into self destruct over the course of next season.

COYS!

I think you have to look at the teams that have made massive strides this season,
The likes of Everton, Aston Villa as well as Man City. We need to be challenging for 6th/7th place this year. Top four is gonna be a very tough to reach especially looking at our away form this season!!!!

and dont forget West Ham, West ham had a good season but they didnt have Aston fit for 75% of it, I think West Ham are also a team to watch. You can all say whatever, there rubbish, no point talking about them but few decent buys and they can also be challneging for 7th/8th. Without a dout i think Spurs will finish above West Ham but they shouldnt be written off.
